LINCOLN
- Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital provides a free education group
for people with diabetes mellitus. The group meets the third Friday of
the month at the Oasis Senior Center located at 2810 Woodlawn Road in
Lincoln. This month the group will meet on February 17 at 11am and
discuss the topic, “Food Label Frenzy.”

The casual group meetings are free and do not require
registration. Jennifer DiPasquale, a registered dietitian and
certified diabetes educator, leads the group.
“These diabetes support group meetings are a great opportunity to
get practical and timely information about how to manage your
diabetes,” DiPasquale said. Family members, friends, and caregivers
are also welcome to attend the meetings.
In 2010, an estimated 25.8 million people or 8.3 percent of the
population had diabetes. In Logan County, 9.9 percent of residents
have been diagnosed with diabetes.
Interested individuals should call DiPasquale at (217) 605-5535 or
e-mail her at ALMH diabetes@mhsil.com
