Feb 16 (The Sports Xchange) -
Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is in disbelief that
he was passed over for the Eastern Conference All-Star team in favor
of New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony in an injury replacement
pick made by NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love pulled out of the game due to
a knee injury and Silver opted for Anthony on Wednesday night
despite Beal helping the Wizards rise into one of the top teams in
the East.
"I'll never say a player doesn't deserve to be on the All-Star team.
For one, Carmelo is a great player," Beal told reporters. "Hell,
he's been one of the best offensive threats in the league for years
now, and I'm taking absolutely nothing away from him. But the
process of it does not make sense.
"If they reward winning, then I don't understand how the decision
was made. It was kind of weird to me."

Chicago Bulls shooting guard Dwyane Wade will miss Thursday night's
contest against the Boston Celtics due to illness.
It will be third straight game Wade has missed after he sat out the
previous two due to a wrist injury.
Wade missed Thursday's shootaround because of the illness, coach
Fred Hoiberg told reporters. The game is Chicago's final one prior
to the All-Star break. Wade averaged 22.1 points over his past nine
games.

Orlando Magic general manager Rob Hennigan isn't trying to hide from
his team's results, nor can he.
The Magic (21-37) have eclipsed 25 wins just once in his five
seasons at the helm and the team's ensuing first-round picks leave
much to be desired.
Orlando acquired several costly veterans last season, but the end
result has Aaron Gordon -- the club's most promising player --
pushed from power forward to small forward.
Hennigan, 34, has taken it on the chin for his decisions.
"First and foremost, the criticism is warranted," Hennigan said, via
the Orlando Sentinel.
"Our fans, quite frankly, deserve to be upset and deserve to be
frustrated. ... I think the proverbial hot seat comes with the
territory." (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
