Pulaski boys open regional action with a big win

The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers (no. 4 seed) toppled Decatur Christian
(no. 14 seed) Tuesday night 73-13 in the opening round of the Class
1A Regional hosted by Mount Pulaski. Nate Dyer led Mount Pulaski
with 18 points, all from the three-point range and Zach Drake
chipped in 13 points.
Mount Pulaski led 19-0 after the first quarter of play. After the
first six minutes of play, Mount Pulaski Head Coach Ryan Diebert
rested his starters. It was the bench for Mount Pulaski that did the
rest of the scoring and by halftime the score was 39-4 in favor of
the Hilltoppers.
Things didn’t get much better for Decatur Christian in the second
half and at the end of the third quarter they were buried by a score
of 60-8.
Decatur Christian would finally reach double-digits in scoring in
the final quarter, but it was the Hilltoppers coming away with the
crushing 73-13 victory.
Mount Pulaski improves to 16-11 on the season and will play Sangamon
Valley (no. 8 seed) at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Ed Butkovich
Gymnasium.

advances to the regional championship Friday night at 7 p.m.
