							Obituary 
							 Henry Alan Steiger died on December 6, 2016, at 
							The Christian Village.
 He was born July 27, 1930, at home on the farm in 
							Delavan. He is the first son of Howard Henry and 
							Opal Ruth Barbee Steiger. He attended Delavan’s 
							Curtis Grade School and Delavan High School. He 
							graduated from Purdue University with a degree in 
							Agricultural Engineering in 1952.
 
 He served in the United States Army during the 
							Korean War where he was a high-speed radio operator 
							in Japan. Upon completing his tour of duty, he 
							returned home to the family farm.
 On August 18, 1956, he married Marilyn Ann Doubet 
							at the Hanna City Presbyterian Church. They moved to 
							Lincoln, where he was a livestock and grain farmer. 
							Marilyn preceded him in death on February 12, 2015.
 Henry is survived by three daughters: Cynthia 
							(Brent) Scott of Bloomington, Karen Steiger of 
							Lincoln, Dawn (James) Frieling of Buffalo Grove; son 
							Scott Steiger of Lincoln; five grandchildren: 
							Lindsey Scott, Regan Frieling, Connor Scott, Skyler 
							Frieling, Camden Frieling; two sisters: Ruth Rogers 
							of Elizabethtown, NC; Linda (Arlis) Springer of 
							Delavan; brother Ralph Steiger of Delavan; three 
							nieces and one nephew.

Mr. Steiger was a member of Boynton Mennonite Church and transferred his 
membership to the First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln in 1958 where he had 
served as a trustee and on other committees. He served 20 years on the Board of 
Directors of Logan FS, Inc and Ag-Land FS, Inc and 12 years on the Logan County 
Farm Bureau Board of Directors. 
 Henry was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who enjoyed attending the 
children’s and grandchildren’s music and sports events and attending the Logan 
County Fair as a family.
 
 Memorial donations may be made to The Christian Village.
 
 Private family services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Holland 
Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Union Cemetery with full 
military rites performed by the American Legion Post 263.
