Local author and Logan County historian Bill Donath brought this photo of his great, great, grandmother who emigrated from Germany. The photo was taken in 1851. The mother is Maria, son is Henry, and daughter is Amelia. They lived in Postville before Lincoln existed.

 

Joanne Marlin brought this photo of sisters who immigrated to the United States from Sweden. The seated sister is Joanne’s grandmother.

 

The young couple on their wedding day is Gary Freese’s parents.

 

This is Karen Birnbaum’s grandfather in his uniform as a police officer in Pekin. He also was in the military during the Spanish American War.

 

Eleanor Gunderman showed off a large family photo montage containing many generations of her family. Several of those in that family founded the iconic Lauer’s Hardware Store that was located at the corner of Sangamon and Pulaski in Lincoln. It was said that the store carried every piece of hardware a person could want, somewhere in the store; just had to ask the owner where it was.

 

Carol Farmer shows off her grandmother’s grandparents. It takes four greats to get back to their generation.
