Mount Pulaski celebrated July 4th with food, fun, games and garage sales
Fireworks scheduled for Saturday, July 8th at Frazier Park

[July 05, 2017]   Mount Pulaski celebrated July 4th with its town-wide garage sales and many a street corner saw traffic jams. A nice sight in the community as several groups gathered treasures to sell in order to raise money for mission trips and church activities.

Mount Pulaski has a strong reputation for having successful July 4th garage sales and even though this year many of those sales began on July 1st, there was still plenty left to sell on the 4th.

Frazier Park was host to food and fun as the Boy Scout Troop 122 sold grilled pork chop sandwiches. The troop sold just shy of 200 sandwiches and the group was more than pleased with the community support.

Community Pride hosted a successful Co-Ed Softball Tournament at Frazier Park that featured six teams.

The winning team, Resting Pitch Face, had members from Decatur, Clinton and Heyworth. Resting Pitch Face defeated Prestige Worldwide 8-2 in the championship game. The two teams finished in the rain with smiles. The softball tournament was a fundraising effort for Community Pride and according to Sam Brown, the event was a great success. The teams played softball games from 9:30 in the morning until nearly 5:00 in the afternoon.

The new Mount Pulaski Pool was also packed all day long as the sultry temperatures made for a great day at the pool.

Rain closed out the day’s activities with residents reporting rainfalls anywhere from .6 to 1.2 inches in the area. While the much needed rain may have been cold for those swimming, this “million dollar rain” was a welcome sight for farmers and gardeners.

Come on out to Frazier Park in Mount Pulaski this Saturday night for fireworks at dusk.
