[July 10, 2017] (The Sports Xchange) - Former Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin has decided to pull his name out of contention for the New York Knicks' front office search to fill their top basketball executive opening, according to multiple reports Sunday.

Griffin turned down the opportunity because he and the Knicks couldn't agree on a role, sources told ESPN on Sunday. The issue reportedly came down to finding a proper role for Griffin while executive Steve Mills continues to work for the team.

Sources told ESPN that the Knicks and Griffin were at odds over Griffin not having full authority on basketball decisions and over Griffin's preference to bring in his own staff.

Earlier in the day it was reported the Knicks were nearing contract negotiations with Griffin following the departure of Phil Jackson as team president. No formal contract offer was made.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Markelle Fultz, the No. 1 overall pick in last month's draft, will not play for the rest of the NBA Summer League due to an ankle sprain suffered Saturday night in Las Vegas, the team announced.

Fultz was helped off the court after rolling his left ankle in a game against the Golden State Warriors.

The Sixers said in a press release that "Fultz underwent X-rays, which were negative, and the injury was determined to be a lateral ankle sprain. He will miss the remainder of Summer League and is expected to return to normal basketball activities in 1-2 weeks."

Former Miami Heat star Chris Bosh published an open letter to thank the South Florida community for the past seven years, writing he "learned how to dream again."

Five days after his career in Miami officially ended, Bosh published a "Letter to Miami" essay on his website and took out a full-page advertisement in Sunday's Miami Herald.

The Toronto Raptors acquired veteran swingman C.J. Miles in a sign-and-trade deal from the Indiana Pacers for point guard Cory Joseph, ESPN reported.

Miles will reportedly sign a three-year, $25 million deal with a player option on the final season. Miles previously declined a $4.8 million player option to become a free agent.

Miles, 30, averaged 10.7 points and shot a career-best 41.3 percent from 3-point range last season.

The Raptors announced they signed forward OG Anunoby to a rookie contract. Anunoby is under contract through the 2018-19 season, with two team option years to follow. Financial terms were not disclosed.
