[July 15, 2017]    July 14 (The Sports Xchange) - Minnesota Vikings receiver Michael Floyd has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, the league announced Friday.

 

Floyd was arrested for DUI on Dec. 12 in Scottsdale, Ariz., prompting his release two days later from the Arizona Cardinals. He pleaded guilty in February to extreme DUI (blood alcohol content of .150-.199) and served 24 days in Maricopa County (Ariz.) Jail before having to serve 96 days on house arrest.

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is expected to respond next week to a report from the NFL on the league investigation into a 2016 domestic violence accusation for which he could face a one- or two-game suspension.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the possibility of suspension although the NFL denied it made a decision on a course of disciplinary action. Schefter said the sense around the Cowboys was a "short" suspension would be levied.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant wants to have a word with Ben Roethlisberger after the quarterback tossed critical comments in his direction.

Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette last year that Bryant lied to him and that the team felt "let down" by the wideout after he was suspended for the season.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Mike Thomas has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2017 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse, the league announced.

Thomas will be eligible to return to the Rams' active roster on Monday, Oct. 2 following the team's Oct. 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys. He is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games.
