- Much to the delight of a large audience of kids, David Fisher, aka
The Rope Warrior, jumped into the his performance. The event was

Summer Reading Program.

Fisher hails from Indianapolis and has been
entertaining for over twenty years with his rope jumping skills. He
has traveled extensively, appeared on the television show America’s
Got Talent, and holds three world records for jumping. He is also a
published author of a book on trick jumps and recently branched out
into science fiction, taking the persona of the Rope Warrior into
the realm of super heroes.
While entertaining with trick jumping, he also shared his knowledge
with an enthusiastic young audience. At one point he was jumping
with five volunteers, all perfectly completing the stunt. Fisher
stressed to his audience the athletic benefits of jumping rope.
Fisher also gave safety instructions to kids and their parents about
jumping including eye protection, landing softly on the balls of
their feet, and receiving parent’s permission to try advanced moves
such as he does. He wanted the kids to promise not to jump near
another person. Ropes can hurt when they are spinning at high speed.
One of the world records he holds is jumping, or rather, sitting in
the prone position while he pops up and down spinning the rope under
him at lightning speed. He had the kids doing Double Dutch even
though some had never done it before, and others doing a traveling
jump as they passed in front of him. He received lots of volunteers
from the audience to try the unusual jumps with him.

He completed his performance by doing some of the very advanced
maneuvers that have brought him acclaim. In many instances the rope
was spinning so fast that is was invisible, not a blur, but actually
invisible.
The Lincoln Public Library summer reading program “Reading By
Design” is ongoing. There are two more weeks of Thursday morning
entertainment and lots of tremendous books to read. Contact the
