Highlights from Major League Baseball games on Monday:
Marlins 6, Phillies 5
Giancarlo Stanton slugged two homers, and Dee Gordon hit a walk-off
single in the 10th inning to lead the Miami Marlins to a 6-5 win
over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.
With one out in the 10th, Derek Dietrich tripled off Phillies
reliever Mark Leiter Jr. (1-2). After two intentional walks loaded
the bases, pinch hitter A.J. Ellis grounded to shortstop, and
Philadelphia got a force play at the plate. Gordon then singled to
right-center to win the game.
Marlins reliever Drew Steckenrider (1-1) pitched one scoreless
inning for his first major league victory.
Mariners 9, Astros 7 (10th inning)
Kyle Seager and Danny Valencia clubbed back-to-back home runs in the
10th inning as Seattle completed a wild win over Houston.
Seager, who hit his 13th homer, and Valencia, who smacked his 11th,
completed a four-homer night for the Mariners by going deep off
Astros left-hander Tony Sipp (0-1).
Nationals 6, Reds 1
Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman hit first-inning homers, and
Washington completed a four-game sweep of Cincinnati.
Harper hit a three-run homer and Zimmerman added a solo shot as
Washington scored five times in the opening inning off Scott Feldman
(7-7).
Blue Jays 4, Red Sox 3
Steve Pearce hit a solo homer in the second inning and delivered the
tiebreaking single in the eighth as Toronto edged Boston.
Kendrys Morales added a two-run double for Toronto, while starter
Marcus Stroman allowed three unearned runs and five hits in 6 2/3
innings.
Orioles 3, Rangers 1
Seth Smith hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning and Baltimore
beat Texas.
Chris Tillman allowed one run and two hits in six innings while
Ruben Tejada and Jonathan Schoop drove in the other Baltimore runs.
Pirates 4, Brewers 2
Gregory Polanco went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI doubles and
Pittsburgh beat Milwaukee.
Chad Kuhl allowed two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings as
Pittsburgh won for the eighth time in 10 games.
Cardinals 6, Mets 3
Tommy Pham hit a three-run homer as St. Louis scored six runs in the
sixth inning and beat New York.

Paul DeJong added a two-run homer and homered for the
fourth straight game against the Mets. Adam Wainwright added an RBI
double and allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings.
Twins 4, Yankees 2
Eduardo Escobar snapped a tie with a pinch-hit RBI single in the
eighth inning, and Minnesota held off New York.
Eddie Rosario added an RBI single for the Twins, who are 7-19
all-time at Target Field against the Yankees.
Tigers 10, Royals 2
Jordan Zimmermann picked up his first victory in seven starts, and
Nicholas Castellanos and Mikie Mahtook hit two-run homers as Detroit
beat sputtering Kansas City.
Zimmermann (6-7) allowed one run on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings.
He walked none, hit a batter and struck out seven.
Rockies 9, Padres 6
Colorado scored seven times in the first three innings, then held on
for a win over San Diego.
Trevor Story drove in three runs, and Charlie Blackmon hit his
fourth leadoff homer among three hits for the Rockies, who posted
consecutive victories for the first time since a six-game winning
streak June 20.
Cubs 4, Braves 3
Jon Lester bounced back from the worst start of his career to throw
seven strong innings, helping Chicago win its fourth consecutive
game.
Lester (6-6) allowed one run on three hits with one walk and six
strikeouts. Lester retired the last 10 batters he faced. In his
prior outing, he was tagged for 10 runs in two-thirds of an inning
against the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 9.
Rays 3, Athletics 2
Steven Souza Jr. and Evan Longoria hit solo homers and Tampa Bay
edged Oakland.
Jake Odorizzi allowed one run and one hit in seven innings as Tampa
Bay moved to within two games of first place in the AL East.
Indians 5, Giants 3
Yan Gomes homered and Cleveland capitalized on two errors to beat
San Francisco.
Francisco Lindor drove in two runs as the Indians stopped a
