G Arron Afflalo signed a contract with the
Orlando Magic, the team announced on Thursday. The team did not
divulge terms of the deal, however league sources told ESPN that
it was a one-year contract for $2.3 million. Magic president
Jeff Weltman and general manager John Hammond have history with
Afflalo, whom they helped draft to the Detroit Pistons in 2007.
The 31-year-old Afflalo enjoyed a career season with Orlando in
2013-14, averaging 18.2 points.

NBA Note - Golden State Warriors McGee, JaVale
C JaVale McGee will re-sign with the Warriors on a one-year
deal, multiple outlets reported on Thursday. Four weeks into
free agency, McGee reportedly agreed to a minimum contract.
The 29-year-old appeared in 77 games last season, averaging 6.1
points, 3.1 rebounds and just under a block a game. He shined in
a first-round Western Conference playoff game against the Trail
Blazers, shooting 7-for-7 from the floor while scoring 15 points
and blocking four shots in 13 minutes. The San Francisco
Chronicle reported that McGee drew free agent interest from the
Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento
Kings.

NBA Note - Orlando Magic Speights, Marreese
C Marreese Speights, a first-round pick in 2008, agreed to a
one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Magic, the Orlando
Sentinel reported Thursday. Speights declined his $2.1 million
player option for the 2017-18 season with the Clippers and
became an unrestricted free agent. He played in all 82 games for
the Clippers last season and averaged 8.7 points and 4.5
rebounds while shooting 37.2 percent from 3-point range.

NBA Note - Orlando Magic Birch, Khem
C Khem Birch signed with the Magic on Thursday. Birch, a
Montreal native, averaged 7.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 37
games last season while playing for Olympiacos in Greece.
