[June 02, 2017]  Visit Springfield, in conjunction with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM), welcomes the award-winning sports memorabilia show A Piece of the Game to the presidential library on Saturday June 3, 2017.

A Piece of the Game invites fans to bring cherished memorabilia collected over the generations for expert evaluation. Two to three experts will set up shop in the ALPLM’s main plaza from 9am-4pm for fans to find out what their treasures are worth.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum’s latest exhibit is Cubs vs. Cardinals: The Rivalry, a collection of historic artifacts, documents and photos that explore one of the great rivalries in sports history.

“We are excited to have A Piece of the Game come to Springfield for fans to have their unique items evaluated. We feel Cubs vs. Cardinals: The Rivalry is a homerun exhibit featuring legendary players and new stars alike and will encourage visitors to visit Springfield to not only see this piece of the city but all that Springfield has to offer,” said Gina Gemberling, Executive Director, Visit Springfield.

“As a museum, we know the importance of preserving pieces of the past and the joy that those treasured items can bring,” said Alan Lowe, executive director of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. “We look forward to hosting an event that will let people share and learn more about their beloved sports memorabilia. I plan on bringing in an artifact or two of my own!”

Visitors can register to win their own piece of the game. A bat used by National League MVP (2016) and Rookie of the Year (2015) Chicago Cubs 3rd baseman, Kris Bryant will be given away!

A Piece of the Game, hosted by Dave Kaplan, airs 28 times on WGN-TV starting in May following Cubs and White Sox games. Create by Don Dupree; it has won two Emmy Awards.
