[June 03, 2017]  June 2 (The Sports Xchange) - The health of Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has improved, and there is a chance he may return for Game Two of the NBA Finals on Sunday, according to ESPN.com.

Kerr has been bothered by back problems resulting from last year's surgery.

The Warriors have not confirmed that Kerr will be back Sunday, and guard Klay Thompson has not been told Kerr will be coaching then.

"I hope he comes back as soon as possible, but I haven't heard anything yet," Thompson told Slam Magazine.

Kerr has been out since Game Two of the Warriors' first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers.

- - - Former New York Knicks standout Charles Oakley rejected a deal that could have led to the dismissal of charges in February's incident at Madison Square Garden and instead requested a trial.

Oakley was arrested and charged with five misdemeanors -- including two for assault -- in the incident in which security removed him from Madison Square Garden. The incident stemmed from a longstanding dispute Oakley has with Knicks owner James Dolan.

Assistant district attorney Ryan Lipes offered an adjournment that would lead to a dismissal if Oakley were to stay out of trouble and comply with an unspecified order of protection. Oakley's attorney, Alex Spiro, declined the offer and asked for a trial. Trial was set for Aug. 4.

- - - The father of Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter has been detained by the Turkish government.

The NBA player, with a warrant out for his own arrest in his native country, tweeted Friday morning that his father, Mehmet Kanter, was arrested in Turkey.

"HEY WORLD, MY DAD HAS BEEN ARRESTED by Turkish government and the Hitler of our century. He is potentially to get tortured as thousand others," Kanter wrote on Twitter. (Editing by Gene Cherry)
