June 12 (The Sports Xchange) -
The Florida Panthers named Bob Boughner as their head coach on
Monday.
The former NHL defenseman becomes the 15th coach in the franchise's
24-year history and its fifth since 2011.
- -
The Pittsburgh Penguins barely had started their celebration after
winning their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship before Las
Vegas tabbed them as favorites to capture their fifth time in
franchise history in 2017-18.
The Penguins became the NHL's first repeat champions in 19 years on
Sunday when they posted a 2-0 victory over the Nashville Predators
in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.
- -
Penguins forward Nick Bonino admitted he played through a broken leg
during Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Bonino sustained the injury after he was on the receiving end of a
slapshot from Nashville Predators defenseman P.K. Subban in the
first period. Bonino returned to play in the second and third
periods, finishing the night with 16:06 of ice time.

The Ottawa Senators want veteran defenseman Dion Phaneuf to waive
his no-movement clause, according to a published report.

The reasoning for Ottawa's thinking is that by waiving the clause,
the team will not have to protect Phaneuf for the upcoming NHL
expansion draft, TSN reported.
- -
Andrew Barroway has bought out the minority owners of the Arizona
Coyotes and is now the team's sole owner, multiple outlets reported.
Barroway purchased a controlling interest in the team from the
IceArizona group of Canadian businessmen in late 2014.
The NHL's board of governors must approve any ownership changes and
could do so at its meeting this month.
