Letters to the Editor

Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor:

Please inform the public what we can do…the legislature is controlled by the Speaker of the House and President of the Senate who are elected over and over by the people in the Chicago area, I feel powerless as to what to do. People who are on fixed incomes are already feeling the pinch of higher and higher taxes and it is only going to get worse if our government doesn’t seriously attempt to balance the budget and stop simply looking for additional tax increases.

[to top of second column in this letter]

More and more people are going to continue leaving the state for surrounding states if the tax increases don’t stop.
