SPRINGFIELD
– Author Talmage Boston, an expert on both Abraham Lincoln and
baseball, will bring the two subjects together when he speaks at the
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum on June 22.

Boston will discuss what about
baseball’s nature and power made it America’s pastime and why
Lincoln definitely can be regarded as the nation’s first baseball
president.
He’ll sign copies of his books at 6 p.m. and then speak at the
museum’s Union Theater at 6:30 p.m. To make a free reservation,

Boston is a media member of the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame. His
baseball books include “1939: Baseball's Tipping Point” and
“Baseball and the Baby Boomer.” His most recent book is
“Cross-Examining History: A Lawyer Gets Answers from the Experts
About Our Presidents.”
Boston’s appearance is part of the special programming surrounding
the ALPLM’s latest exhibit, “Cubs vs. Cardinals: The Rivalry.” It
traces the history of one of the greatest rivalries in sports and
the way it has divided Illinois for generations.
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is dedicated to
telling the story of America’s 16th president through old-fashioned
scholarship and modern technology.

documents, photographs, artifacts and art. The museum uses traditional exhibits,
eye-catching special effects and innovative story-telling techniques to educate
