[June 22, 2017]  LINCOLN -  Doris Waneta Howell, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Lombard passed away May 22, 2017, at the Christian Village.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.

Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the funeral home

Obituary

Doris Waneta Howell, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Lombard passed away May 22, 2017, at the Christian Village.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, also at the funeral home with Chaplain Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Doris was born September 8, 1925, in Lincoln, the daughter of Elmer L. Gehlbach and Alma C. (Werth) Gehlbach. She married Floyd Richard Howell on June 11, 1950, in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2005.

Mrs. Howell graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1943 and graduated from Lincoln College in 1945 with an Associate of Arts Degree. She was a Charter Member of the Women's Auxiliary of Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, and a member of the Green Valley unit of the DuPage County Homemakers Extension Association.

Survivors include her son Bruce G, Howell of Morton, grandsons Jason Howell and Andrew Howell also of Morton and sister Norma Rankin of Urbana.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Floyd, and her son Brian K. Howell.

Memorial donations may be made to The Christian Village and will be accepted at the funeral home.
