Obituary
Irene Tumilty, 94, of Lincoln,
passed away at 5:30 p.m. on February 22, 2017 at The
Christian Village.
Irene was born on July 22, 1922
in Atlanta, IL; daughter of Emiel J. and Anna P.
(Ludlam) Deiss
Irene is survived by her
children: Jerrie A.(Robert) Pharis of Lincoln, IL,
Donald Faye of Ottawa, IL, and Carole S. (Tony)
Whitaker of Addison, ten grandchildren: Mark (Dawn)
Pharis, Pamela (Steve) Kelly, Cynthia (Robert III)
Guy, Amy Addante, Nicholas Addante, Michael Addante,
Cade Whitaker, Braden Whitaker, Teagan Whitaker, and
Cami Whitaker; two great-grandchildren: Taylor Guy
and Bobby Guy IV. She was preceded in death by her
parents and one brother: Carl Deiss and sister:
Mildred Deiss.
Irene was a member of the
L.C.H.S. class of 1940. Irene graduated Illini
Beauty College, Urbana, IL , owned and operated own
beauty salon for several years, purchased a
Baskin-Robbins Store, retired in 1988, returned to
Lincoln. Member of the Lincoln Christian Church,
member and past Nobel Grand of Orphan Home Rebekah
Lodge, past president of Rebekah District Asso. #17
of Illinois, past president Rebekah District #7,
member of American Legion Auxiliary #672 in
Middletown, vice-president VFW #1756 of Lincoln,
member of OASIS Senior Center
Services for Irene will be 7:00
p.m. Tuesday February 28, 2017 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL
with Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Visitation will be
two hours prior to service (5:00-7:00 p.m.) also at
the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Irene’s
name to Senior Oasis Center or Ottawa Kanthak House.
