[March 02, 2017]    March 1 (The Sports Xchange) - Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant will miss at least four weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprained MCL and a bone bruise on his left leg, the team announced Wednesday.

The Warriors said Durant will be re-evaluated after the four-week period and it is possible he could return before the end of the regular season, which ends in six weeks on April 12.

"At this time it's just speculation to guess when that is," general manager Bob Myers told reporters in a conference call later Wednesday. "He'll heal as his body heals."

The Warriors signed veteran Spanish guard Jose Calderon to a contract.

Terms of the deal were not announced by the team for the 35-year-old Calderon, who was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will miss the remainder of the season to recover from his left knee injury, the team announced.

Embiid underwent an MRI exam on his knee Monday afternoon and the results revealed the meniscus tear "appears more pronounced."

Embiid's status was changed by the 76ers from out indefinitely, while dealing with swelling and soreness in his left knee, to out for the remainder of this season two days later. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
