[March 07, 2017]  March 6 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Monday's National Hockey League games:

Stars 4, Capitals 2

Kari Lehtonen made a season-high 42 saves, Patrick Sharp had a goal and an assist, and the Dallas Stars held on to defeat the Capitals 4-2 on Monday night, snapping Washington's 15-game home winning streak.

Dallas' Devin Shore scored in the game's second minute, and Radek Faksa and Jason Spezza added goals early in the second period to make it 3-0.

Washington closed within 3-2 before Sharp's length-of-the-ice empty-netter with 1:18 left sealed it.

Senators 4, Bruins 2

Ottawa struck early and went on to move four points ahead of Boston in the Atlantic Division playoff race with a victory at Canadian Tire Centre.

Derick Brassard, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Mike Hoffman and Alex Burrows each scored a goal for the Senators. Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand replied for the Bruins.

Craig Anderson made 25 saves while improving his record to 19-8-1. Tuukka Rask stopped 25 shots as he fell to 30-16-4.

Rangers 1, Lightning 0 (OT)

Mika Zibanejad scored on a breakaway 3:56 into overtime to give New York its second victory in six games.

Antti Raanta made 38 saves for his 13th victory of the season for the Rangers.

Andrei Vasilevskiy finished with 33 saves as his three-game winning streak was snapped. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, improved to 8-2-3 in the past 13 games and moved within two points of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 16 games remaining.

Sharks 3, Jets 2

Mikkel Boedker's short-handed goal early in the third period helped lead San Jose to a win over Winnipeg.

With the Jets on the power play looking to take the lead in a 1-1 game, rookie Patrik Laine's soft blue line pass was picked off by Logan Couture, who sprung Boedker with the breakaway. The speedy Danish forward made no mistake for his ninth goal of the season at the 7:26 mark of the final frame.

Bryan Little had a glorious chance to put his team in the lead shortly before Boedker scored as he deked out Aaron Dell but slid the puck through the crease.
