The Lincoln College Baseball team picked up two more wins on
Thursday to stay undefeated on the young season.
The double-header saw LC take on Glen Oaks Community College (MI) in
two seven-inning games.
In the opener, freshman Alex Phillips (Fairview Heights) took the
hill for the Lynx. The 6'3" righthander from Belleville East High
School went six innings giving up two runs on three hits and racking
up 12 strikeouts.
LC broke open a 2-2 tie in the eighth when sophomore Hayden Radford
(Desoto, MO) singled to drive in two runs.
Lincoln would tack on one more to make the final score 5-2. Freshman
Maricio Munoz (Chicago) earned the win by throwing two innings in
relief. Munoz gave up no runs and struck out two.
LC collected nine hits in the game with Wyatt Eldridge (Jackson, MO)
and Jaime Valdez (Addison Trail) turning in multiple hit
performances.
In the second game, freshman Cody Isenbarger (Blue River, IN) got
the start and was staked to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Things got exciting in the top of the second as the Glen Oaks bats
came alive to score five runs in the inning. GOCC did not have long
to enjoy their lead, however, as the Lynx responded with four runs
of their own in the bottom of the frame to tie the score at 5-5.
After the wild second inning, both starters settled in and were able
to keep any more runs from crossing the plate.

Isenbarger would last through the seventh inning surrendering just
three hits with one strikeout before giving way to the LC bullpen.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the eighth when LC loaded
the bases and freshman infielder KJ Fry (Lincoln) was hit by a pitch
to force across the winning run. Sophomore Ty Mattix (Montecello,
IN) would earn the win by pitching one inning in relief, giving up
one hit and striking out one.
LC Coach Tony Thomas: "We came out a little sluggish
after our off day on Wednesday, but managed to close out both wins.
Our pitching staff was excellent which was a major factor for us
today. We played just well enough in the other aspects of the game
to get the victories."
Next up for the Lynx will be a match-up on Friday with NJCAA DIII
ranked Century CC (#9) from White Bear Lake, MN. [Mark
