On July 16, 2015, Lincoln Police investigated a report of residential
burglary at the apartment complex located at 1000 N. College Street in
Lincoln. The window to the victim’s apartment was broken and items were
reported missing. Alan New, who was living in an apartment next door to
the victim, was found with a cut on his hand. Items missing from the
victim’s apartment were located in Alan New’s apartment. Alan New was
arrested on the same date for residential burglary.
While incarcerated and awaiting trial on the charge of residential
burglary, Alan New struck a Logan County Correctional Officer. Because
this occurred while on pretrial detention, the two prison sentences must
be served consecutively.
