Highlights of Monday's National Hockey League games:
Flames 4, Penguins 3 (SO)
Kris Versteeg scored the shootout winner as the Calgary Flames edged
the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 for their franchise record-tying 10th
consecutive victory.
Versteeg flipped a backhand shot past Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre
Fleury for the lone goal of the shootout, much to the delight of the
19,289 fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Atlanta Flames set the franchise record of 10 wins in a row
thanks to a 2-0 victory over the Penguins at home on Nov. 3, 1978,
before relocating to Calgary two seasons later.
Versteeg had two assists in regulation, and Flames goalie Brian
Elliott made 32 saves. Fleury stopped 27 shots.
Hurricanes 8, Islanders 4
Jaccob Slavin collected the first hat-trick of his NHL career as
Carolina routed New York.
Slavin entered the game with just two goals this season and four
goals in his two-year career but scored once in each period as the
Hurricanes snapped out of an offensive slump in a big way.
Carolina, which took control by scoring four unanswered goals in the
second period, produced three goals or fewer in 13 of its previous
14 games.
Justin Faulk and Jeff Skinner each scored twice for the Hurricanes,
while goalie Cam Ward recorded 23 saves.
Blue Jackets 5, Flyers 3
Brandon Dubinsky's power-play goal 8:46 into the third period helped
lift Columbus to a win over Philadelphia.
Cam Atkinson scored two goals, rookie defenseman Zach Werenski added
a goal and an assist and Sam Gagner also scored for the Blue
Jackets, who have won four of their last five games.
Lightning 3, Rangers 2
Brayden Point's second goal of the game, with 6:39 remaining in the
third period, gave Tampa Bay a win against New York at Madison
Square Garden.
Point drove to the net and deflected a pass from Ondrej Palat for
his 11th goal of the season.
The Lightning won their third straight and are 11-2-3 in their past
16 games.

Predators 5, Jets 4 (OT)
James Neal's power-play marker at 2:11 of overtime lifted Nashville
to a win over Winnipeg at Bridgestone Arena.
It was the 20th goal of the season for Neal, who took a pass from
Roman Josi, deked around a defender and slotted a wrister by Connor
Hellebuyck.
Coyotes 1, Avalanche 0
Brendan Perlini scored his 13th goal of the season and Mike Smith
made 22 saves to record his franchise-record 22nd shutout as Arizona
beat Colorado.
Smith passed Nikolai Khabibulin and Ilya Bryzgalov to take over sole
possession of the team's all-time shutout mark with his third of the
season. He guided the Coyotes (25-35-8) to their second consecutive
win.
Blues 3, Kings 1
Magnus Paajarvi scored the decisive power-play goal and Jake Allen
stopped 38 shots as St Louis defeated Los Angeles.
David Perron scored in the second period for St Louis, Paajarvi made
the lead 2-0 early in the third and Alexander Steen added an
empty-net goal in the final seconds.
The Blues won their fifth straight game and extended their lead over
the Kings to five points for the second wild-card spot in the
Western Conference.
Bruins 6, Canucks 3
Brad Marchand scored three goals, including the winner, and assisted
on another as Boston doubled up Vancouver.
Marchand scored all of his goals in the third period as the Bruins
overcame a 3-2 second-period deficit. He recorded his second career
hat trick and moved into a tie with Sidney Crosby for the NHL
