Highlights of Tuesday's National Hockey League games:
Capitals 4, Wild 2
Alexander Ovechkin ended a 10-game scoreless drought with a
second-period goal and the Washington Capitals halted their
four-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 4-2 win over the
Minnesota Wild in a battle of conference leaders.
Nate Schmidt, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Jay Beagle also scored for the
Capitals, while Braden Holtby stopped 30 shots to end his three-game
losing streak and pick up his 35th win.
Devon Dubnyk made 36 saves for the Wild, who got goals from matt
Dumba and Eric Staal.
Panthers 7, Maple Leafs 2
Jonathan Marchessault scored two goals and Thomas Vanek added a
career-high four assists as Florida broke a five-game losing streak,
defeating Toronto at the BB&T Center.
The Panthers also got goals from Aleksander Barkov, Colton Sceviour
(short-handed), Reilly Smith, Jussi Jokinen (power play) and Keith
Yandle.
Leo Komarov and Nikita Soshnikov scored for the Maple Leafs.
Lightning 2, Senators 1 (OT)
Victor Hedman's goal with 53.9 seconds left in overtime gave surging
Tampa Bay a victory over Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre.
Brayden Point scored in regulation for the Lightning. Tommy Wingels
scored for the Senators (39-22-7).
Mike Condon made 35 saves for the Senators while Andrei Vasilevskiy
stopped 31 shots in the Tampa net.
Blackhawks 4, Canadiens 2
Patrick Kane scored a goal and an assist to help Chicago top
Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
Jonathan Toews, Johnny Oduya and Artemi Panarin also scored for the
Blackhawks, who took over first place in the Central Division.
Paul Byron and Shea Weber replied for the Canadiens.
Islanders 3, Hurricanes 2 (OT)
John Tavares scored 34 seconds into overtime and New York produced a
solid bounce-back result by defeating Carolina at PNC Arena.

Joshua Ho-Sang and Jason Chimera scored in a brief
span of the second period for the Islanders, who lost to the same
opponent by an 8-4 score a night earlier in New York.
Joakim Nordstrom and Elias Lindholm scored for the
Hurricanes, who have points in four consecutive games.
Oilers 7, Stars 1
Seven players made the scoresheet with goals for Edmonton as it
finally got some traction going during their eight-game homestand
with a victory over Dallas.
Connor McDavid, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Benoit Pouliot, Oscar Klefbom,
Darnell Nurse, David Desharnais and Patrick Maroon scored for the
Oilers, who snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 2-2-1
on the lengthy homestand.
Brett Ritchie replied for the Stars, who lost three games in a row.
Sharks 4, Sabres 1
Joe Pavelski continued his late-season goal surge to lead San Jose
over Buffalo.
Pavelski scored twice to take the team lead with 28 goals. The San
Jose captain has seven goals in five games. And goalie Martin Jones
made 22 saves as the Sharks enjoyed quite the disparity of shots on
goal -- 41-23 -- which included a season-high 20 for one period in
the first.
Logan Couture and Michael Haley also scored for the Sharks while
Jack Eichel scored his 20th for the Sabres.
Coyotes 3, Kings 2 (SO)
Max Domi scored two goals and Anthony DeAngelo scored the deciding
shootout goal as Arizona defeated Los Angeles.
The Coyotes won their third straight game with Louis Domingue
stopping 44 Kings' shots and nine shootout attempts.
Tyler Toffoli scored both regulation goals for the Kings, who lost
