LCU Seminary Lecture Takes on the Subject of Marriage

[March 24, 2017]   LINCOLN - Lincoln Christian University (LCU) is hosting its bi-annual Seminary Lectureship on March 29, 2017. The speaker for the lectureship titled, “Towards a Missiology of Sex and Marriage,” is Dr. Robert J. Priest, one of the premier missiologists of the 21st century.

Dr. Priest, (PhD, University of California, Berkeley) is the G.W. Aldeen professor of international studies and professor of mission and anthropology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, as well as the current president of the Evangelical Missiological Society and former president of the American Society of Missiology. His publications and research interests focus on a wide variety of missiological topics including short-term missions, race and ethnicity, witchcraft accusations, missions and money and anthropology of religion.

Missiology is the study of the science of missions, and therefore, covers multiple disciplines including theology, anthropology, sociology, and ecclesiology. In his lectureship this month, Dr. Priest will cover three topics: “Sex and Marriage: old Patterns and New” at 9 a.m. in the Hargrove Chapel Auditorium, “The Value of Missiology for Christian Leaders in Changing Cultures of Sex and Marriage” at noon in Restoration Hall’s Dowling Auditorium and “Tough Questions, Possible Futures, Current Priorities” at 2 p.m. in Dowling Auditorium.

Every other spring, LCU’s Seminary Lectureship invites speakers that focus on the various disciplines represented in the Seminary such as theology, psychology, Christian education, intercultural studies, history or other areas. The public is welcome to attend any or all of these lectures.
