The Lynx had 20 hits in the five innings played including a
pair of 3-for-3 performances from freshman Kiya Harper (double,
two base hits: 3 RBI), and sophomore Kenzie Cooper from Lincoln
(double, two base hits: 4 RBI). Senior Erin Rankin of Emden went
2 for 3 with a double, a single and 2 runs batted in. Junior
pitcher Ashlyn Carroll (4-1) of Lincoln picked up the win for
the Lady Lynx by throwing 3 complete innings. She only allowed
five hits and no walks while recording three strikeouts.
In the second game, Lincoln College finished the sweep with a
9-3 win. Alex DeVaney (6-1) pitched a complete seven inning game
to earn the victory. DeVaney was in command up until the top of
the seventh inning when CSC loaded the bases, but the sophomore
from Sherman struck out the side to end the game. She allowed
eight hits, gave up one walk and struck out eight batters only
allowing one earned run. LC had a combined total of twelve hits
behind the offensive efforts of Erin Rankin 3 for 4 (double, two
base hits), Mercedez Morgan 2 for 3 (two base hits), and Rylee
Martin 2 for 4 (double and 2 base hits).
LC Coach Crystal Wurth: Plain and simple... We came out to play
today! Thirty two total hits for the day is impressive! Our
pitching and defense was good as well. When you put all the
pieces of the puzzle together., this team can really be tough to
beat. I'm proud of the improvements we have made since last
weekend and look forward to keeping our momentum going into
conference play this weekend. Upcoming Games
3/24 Friday HOME vs Danville Area CC 1pm & 3pm
3/26 Sunday AWAY at Danville Area CC 1pm & 3pm
