Minier Police offer Bob Quarello Memorial Scholarship

[March 28, 2017]  MINIER - The Minier Police Department is proud to announce that they are accepting applications for the Bob Quarello Memorial Scholarship. Officer Quarello served with the Minier Police Department and other law enforcement agencies for nearly 40 years.

Officer Quarello committed his career to helping others, especially youth. He served as a police explorer and later started numerous police explorer posts for various police agencies in Mason County and Tazewell County. Officer Quarello also taught the D.A.R.E. program for six different school districts.

The recipients must be enrolled in classes in preparation for a career within law enforcement or a related field. Current law enforcement officers returning to school for ongoing education are eligible as well.

Applicants must be a permanent resident of Fulton, Mason, Peoria, or Tazewell County. Members or former members of an explorer program in the W.D. Boyce Council are also eligible to apply. Scholarship winners will be awarded a minimum of $500.00 depending on availability of funding. To date, over$11,000 in scholarships has been awarded since the inception of the scholarship.
