Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Jameson Taillon underwent surgery
for suspected testicular cancer at Allegheny General Hospital on
Monday morning, the team announced.
Taillon, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a groin
injury on Saturday, alerted the Pirates' medical staff of an
abnormality. The 25-year-old consulted with Dr. John C. Lyne, who
performed the surgery.

Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout underwent an MRI on his
ailing left hamstring and the results were "clean and normal,"
general manager Billy Eppler told reporters.
Trout, who has been sidelined for back-to-back games with the
injury, likely will sit out Monday's series opener against the
Oakland Athletics.
The two-time American League MVP said he expects to play in
Tuesday's second game of the three-game series.

New York Mets manager Terry Collins told reporters that the team
hopes to have suspended right-hander Matt Harvey ready to start
Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Harvey was suspended for three days on Sunday for violation of team
rules. Collins said Monday that Harvey "needs to address some guys"
upon his return.

Outfielder Bryce Harper will return from a three-game absence due to
a groin injury when the Washington Nationals open a four-game,
home-and-home interleague series against the Baltimore Orioles at
Camden Yards.
Harper, who will bat third in the lineup and start in right field,
enters Monday's game with a majors-best 35 runs scored and .504
on-base percentage.

Yet another back injury landed left-hander Brett
Anderson on the disabled list, forcing the Chicago Cubs to look for
options in their starting rotation.
The Cubs placed their No. 5 starter on the DL Sunday with a
lower-back strain after consecutive rocky outings, including leaving
the game Saturday night against the New York Yankees in the first
inning.

The Miami Marlins placed Martin Prado on the 10-day disabled list
and recalled fellow infielder J.T. Riddle from Triple-A New Orleans.
Prado was diagnosed with a strained right hamstring after
aggravating the injury during the seventh inning of Miami's 7-0 rout
of the New York Mets on Sunday.

The Toronto Blue Jays placed Russell Martin on the 10-day disabled
list and recalled fellow catcher Mike Ohlman from Triple-A Buffalo.
