Lincoln Railsplitters honor baseball seniors

The Lincoln Railsplitters ended the week with a 2-2 record
while recording victories over Decatur MacArthur and Springfield
Lanphier, and getting swept in defeat by Rochester.
Vs MacArthur
On Monday Lincoln defeated MacArthur 6-2 behind an offensive attack
led by Noah Funk and Colton Holliday. Funk led the team with three
hits and Holliday recorded two hits for Lincoln.
Lincoln took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Jake
Konczyk. Holliday’s RBI single in the top of the sixth inning
allowed Lincoln to seal the 6-2 win.
Funk was 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs for the Railsplitters.
Preston Ebelherr got the win for Lincoln. He pitched five strong
innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four
batters. Nate Arnold recorded the last six outs and got the save.
Vs Rochester @ home
Tuesday was Senior Night at Mike Curry Field with six senior
ballplayers and two managers being recognized before the game.
The senior ballplayers honored prior to the game with Rochester were
Jake Konczyk, Cole Sheley, Austin Newton, Andrew Yount, Isaac Lewis
and Preston Ebelherr.
The senior managers recognized were Nolan Hullinger and Jacob
Berglin.
On the field Rochester handed Lincoln a 7-3 loss. The Rockets lead
was 2-0 in the top of the first inning. Rochester scored again in
the second inning to lead 3-0. Two more runs in the top of the
fourth inning gave the Rockets a 5-0 lead.
Lincoln finally got a run across in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Rochester would continue to score in the sixth and seventh innings
to take a 7-1 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh inning Lincoln managed to score two
runs, but fell short and took the 7-3 loss on Senior Night. Newton
took the loss on the mound for Lincoln.

week prior to a home game with Rochester. From left to right Manager

Vs Rochester @ Rochester
Wednesday the Railsplitters traveled to Rochester and lost a
heartbreaker 2-1 to the Rockets.
Lincoln scored a run in the first inning on an RBI
double by Austin Newton to take a 1-0 lead.
The Rockets tied the game in the fourth inning and took the lead in
the fifth inning off starter Colton Holliday. Holliday only gave up
four hits and one earned run in the loss.
Vs Lanphier
Thursday the Railsplitters bounced back at Lanphier and defeated the
Lions easily 11-0.
Lincoln’s offense pounded out 14 hits in the win. Lincoln struck for
three runs in the top of the first inning and added single runs in
the fourth and fifth innings. A six-run sixth inning allowed Lincoln
to cruise to the 11-0 victory.
Nate Arnold got the win for Lincoln, going five innings and striking
out three batters.
Lincoln’s record is now 11-17 on the season.
The Railsplitters host Jacksonville today at home.
