LINCOLN
- On Monday evening, at the end of the voting meeting of the Lincoln
City Council, Mayor Seth Goodman discussed with aldermen a plan to
recognize residents of Lincoln who work to keep their homes looking
nice.
Goodman said that each month he will ask for nominations from the
aldermen for a “Home of the Month.” The aldermen will be asked to
choose a home in their ward that he or she feels is representative
of an attractive, well-kept home.
Based on an email received from Goodman on Monday night, the project
will be a means of promoting beautification within the city of
Lincoln. The homes nominated by the aldermen will be entered into a
drawing with the recipient for the month being selected at the first
meeting of the month when a name is drawn at random by Goodman.
Goodman outlined the qualifications for Home of the Month: “The
property can be any type/size as long as (it is) residential and
located within city limits. Homes may be selected based off of
overall curb appeal, unique features, recent improvements, and/or
enhanced exterior landscaping.”
The winning home for the month will receive a traveling sign for
their front yard. The sign will be posted during that month, then
moved on to the next recipient after the next drawing. Each monthly
winner will also receive $50 in Chamber Bucks.

Chamber Bucks are a product of the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber
of Commerce. Chamber members have the option to enroll in the Chamber Buck
program, wherein they will accept the bucks same as cash for purchases. Chamber
bucks assure that dollars remain in the community, promoting the “buy local”
theme the Chamber and city of Lincoln support. Currently there is a wide variety
of local businesses that accept the bucks including retailers throughout the
county, and many local eateries.
In addition to the signage and Chamber Bucks, Goodman said that local media
would be invited to attend each Home of the Month presentation, and encouraged
to feature the home of the month in their respective editions.
Goodman said Monday night in addition to the Home of the Month program, he would
like to implement a Student of the Month for this coming school year. Goodman
offered fewer details on this program, but said that it would be open to all the
schools within the city, and would recognize and reward students who are doing
well in school.
