LINCOLN
- Lincoln Barbell hosted the "Salute Our Heroes" event, May
13th. Athletes from Lincoln Barbell and Crossfit Upper Edge in
Bloomington gathered to participate in a workout and weightlifting
competitions honoring our local military, department of corrections,
police and fire departments. The event included raffles, snacks, and
vendors, with all proceeds benefiting the local Cronin Brothers VFW.

Following the event, Lincoln Barbell Owner Dane Whitted presented
Michelle Ramlow from the VFW with a check for $265 raised during the
event.
Whitted owns Lincoln Barbell, which is the former FX Crossfit
located on Chicago Street in Lincoln, and Crossfit Upper Edge in
Bloomington. He is a former U.S. Army Military Police Sergeant and
an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. He has 21 years of training
experience in football, including college and semi-pro, baseball,
track, wrestling and mixed martial arts.

He has a bachelor of arts in Biological Psychology from Pace
University and is certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association
as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist, and is a certified CrossFit trainer.
Whitted intends to make the Salute Our Heroes workout an annual
event.
Other upcoming events at Lincoln Barbell include a Memorial Day workout honoring
the memory of Navy Seal Michael Patrick “Murph” Murphy on Monday, May 29 and an
80s-themed workout night on Friday, June 16.
These events are open to the public and will be held at Lincoln Barbell at 230
N. Chicago St. in Lincoln.
