[May 23, 2017]  LINCOLN -  The Lincoln American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will launch National Poppy Day on Friday, May 26, as a way to honor U. S. service members, from the battlefields of France in WWI, a century ago, to today’s global war on terrorism.

Since World War I, The Poppy has been the symbol of the sacrifices made by Americans and allied service members around the world. Millions of red poppies are handmade by veterans as part of their rehabilitation, and distributed across the country in exchange for donations that go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.

Poppies will be distributed by volunteers on May 26th and May 27th at various locations in Lincoln.

Look for them, pick up a poppy, and “Wear the Poppy Proudly”.
