Joseph Edward Fitzpatrick was born October 15, 1947,
in Lincoln, the son of Greg and Evelyn Fitzpatrick.
He married Peggy Fitzsimmons on October 20, 1979.
She survives.
Joe is also survived by his parents; his children:
Shawn (Kristen) Fitzpatrick, Andy (Hannah)
Fitzpatrick, Katie (Justin) Overbey, and Shane
Fitzpatrick. Joe was the first child of Greg and
Evelyn. His surviving siblings include: Louie (Sue)
Fitzpatrick, Mary (Phil) Ripa, Deb Curry, Joni
(Galen) Marten, and Peg (Greg) Morrow. Joe was a
loving grandfather to Justin, Alex, and Emma
Fitzpatrick; Haylee and Mikayla Overbey, and Aiden
and Edward Fitzpatrick. |
Joe was preceded in death by two infant brothers,
William Paul and James Gregory. Also preceding him
in death were his grandparents, Joseph and Agnes
Fitzpatrick, and Louis and Marie Ryan.
Joe grew up in Lincoln and graduated first from St.
Mary’s School and then from Lincoln Community High
School. He served in the United States Navy during
the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Fitzpatrick
Electric for the last 40 years. Joe was a member of
Holy Family Catholic Church, Lincoln Elks Lodge
#914, Lincoln American Legion Post #263, and was a
4th Degree Knight with Lincoln Knights of Columbus
Council 1250 (also having served as Grand Knight
during three separate timespans). Joe was an avid
Cubs fan and enjoyed playing and watching golf. He
also enjoyed the traveling he was able to do with
Peggy. Joe was the 2012 Lincoln/Logan County Chamber
of Commerce Volunteer of the Year, which speaks to
the amount of time he donated to the various
festivals in town.
Memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus Council
1250 or Carroll Catholic School.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley
Funeral Home of Lincoln.
