[May 27, 2017]  May 26 (The Sports Xchange) - The Turkish government has issued an arrest warrant for Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter, accusing him of being a member of a "terror group," according to pro-government newspaper Daily Sabah.

A prosecutor in Istanbul opened an investigation into Kanter's "membership of an armed terrorist organization," per the Daily Sabah. Kanter, who was born in Switzerland to Turkish parents, previously backed Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen on his Twitter account.

The Turkish government has accused Gulen, who is based in the United States, of organizing a failed coup last July in attempt to oust Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Kanter was detained in Romania over the weekend after being informed that his Turkish passport was cancelled. Kanter told reporters on Monday that he would seek American citizenship.

Kanter has compared Ergodan to Adolf Hitler. On Friday afternoon, Kanter tweeted, "Stand For What You Believe!"

Boston Celtics All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas said surgery is not currently the top option for his injured right hip.

Thomas missed the remainder of the playoffs after aggravating a right hip injury during Game Two of the Eastern Conference finals against the Cleveland Cavalier.

Thomas told reporters that he must wait until the swelling subsides in his hip before determining his rehabilitation plan.

"(Surgery is) not the number one option right now, but it could be once the swelling goes down," Thomas said Friday during Boston's exit interviews.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be the underdogs against the Golden State Warriors as the NBA Finals get underway next week.

The 2016 champion Cavs will battle the 2015 champion Warriors for the third straight year.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook installed Golden State as a minus-260 favorite, with Cleveland at plus-220, meaning a $100 bet on the Warriors would win $38.46 and the same bet on the Cavaliers would win $220, according to ESPN.

The Warriors are listed as seven-point favorites for Game 1 at home, according to CBS Sports.
