(The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of National Hockey League
games on Thursday:
Lightning 5, Kings 2
Four Lightning players, including the red-hot Nikita Kucherov and
Steven Stamkos, had multi-point games, and Peter Budaj made 22 saves
as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 on
Thursday night.
Stamkos had a goal and an assist, giving him an NHL-high 28 points,
while Kucherov recorded three points, including his league-leading
16th goal. Alex Killorn, Victor Hedman and Vladislav Namestnikov
also scored for Tampa Bay.
Oscar Fantenberg scored his first career goal and Tyler Toffoli also
tallied for Los Angeles. Jonathan Quick made 38 saves for the Kings.
Wild 3, Canadiens 0
Jason Zucker recorded a hat-trick -- all in the third period -- and
Devan Dubnyk made 41 saves as Minnesota snapped a three-game slide.
Dubnyk recorded his first shutout of the season and 25th of his
career. Zucker scored a short-handed goal with 17:14 left, had an
even-strength 8:37 later and added an empty-netter.
Charlie Lindgren stopped 32 shots in losing for the first time in
six starts for Montreal. The Canadiens had a three-game winning
streak snapped.
Oilers 3, Devils 2 (OT)
Leon Draisaitl capped an exciting overtime by burying a gorgeous
feed from Connor McDavid with 17 seconds remaining for the
game-deciding goal to lift Edmonton over New Jersey.
Milan Lucic had a goal and an assist and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
recorded a pair of assists for the Oilers. Edmonton received a
32-save outing from Cam Talbot.
Cory Schneider made 29 saves for the Devils, who have lost four
games in a row. New Jersey's Brian Boyle scored his first goal since
being diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer two months ago.
Blues 3, Coyotes 2 (SO)
Brayden Schenn and Alexander Steen scored in the shootout to give
St. Louis its 12th straight victory over Arizona.
Backup goaltender Carter Hutton (27 saves) stopped both Coyotes
shootout attempts. The Blues rallied to tie the game on a goal from
Alex Pietrangelo 5:01 into the third period. Joel Edmundson also
scored for St. Louis.
Brendan Perlini scored twice, doubling his goal total for the
season, for Arizona. Antti Raanta made 36 saves for the Coyotes.

Flames 6, Red Wings 3
Johnny Gaudreau had two goals and a memorable assist to lead Calgary
past road-weary Detroit.
Gaudreau set up Jaromir Jagr's first goal as a Flame, which was the
766th of the 45-year-old's 24-year NHL career. Gaudreau's second
goal came into an empty net with 2:23 left. Mark Jankowski, Micheal
Ferland and Matthew Tkachuk also scored for Calgary.
Anthony Mantha had a goal and two assists for the Red Wings and set
up Martin Frk and Frans Nielsen with nice passes during Detroit's
three-goal second period. Detroit wrapped up a four-game
cross-Canada road trip in which it went 2-2-0.
Flyers 3, Blackhawks 1
Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek recorded a goal and two assists
apiece in Philadelphia's victory over Chicago.
Sean Couturier scored and Shayne Gostisbehere picked up his 100th
NHL point as the Flyers extended their point streak to three games
(2-0-1). Brian Elliott made 38 saves for Philadelphia.
Connor Murphy, whose father, Gord Murphy, is an assistant coach with
Philadelphia, scored for the Blackhawks. Corey Crawford made 28
stops in the loss.
Ducks 4, Canucks 1
Jakob Silfverberg scored goals 35 seconds apart early in the third
period as Anaheim snapped a four-game slide (0-2-2).
Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Montour also scored for the Ducks, who
tallied three power-play goals after entering the game ranked 30th
in the NHL on the power play at 5-for-47.
Ryan Miller, who spent the last three seasons with the Canucks, made
13 saves before he was replaced by Reto Berra (six saves) late in
the third period after sustaining a lower-body injury.
Sven Baertschi scored for Vancouver, which had a four-game road
winning streak snapped. Jacob Markstrom stopped 31 shots.
