LINCOLN
On
Monday evening Lincoln Mayor Seth Goodman introduced two individuals
to the city council stating that these were people who exemplified
good citizenship. He explained that he had sent out a request for
nominations of Lincoln citizens who were doing outstanding things
with their lives. Goodman chose one youth and one adult - Carter
Cordell and Andrea Gill to be this week’s recipients.
Carter
was nominated by his mother who said the young man is kind,
considerate and generous. Carter's sister is in a wheelchair and has
special needs. His mother said she admired and appreciated how
Carter shows love and concern for his sister, helps her and looks
out for her.
Mayor Goodman said that Carter was a fine role model for young
people in Lincoln.
Andrea
Gill was nominated by someone who wished to remain anonymous. The
nomination came as a result of a huge effort Gill has undertaken and
led at the Lincoln Christian Church. She is organizing a free
clothing day at the church this Saturday.

During the presentation Goodman invited Gill to speak about the
giveaway. She said that the church began collecting donations of clothing, all
sizes and all season, and the response has been overwhelming. She said there
were hundreds of trash-size bags that have been donated. On Friday volunteers
will sort through all the clothing and get it organized for the Saturday
give-away. Gill said more volunteers are needed, and anyone who does come to
help today will get to "shop" the large assortment on Friday evening.
The give-away is open to the public and at no cost. The doors will open at 8
a.m. Saturday morning and close at noon. Those interested in coming to shop
should enter under the green canopy at the church.
Goodman applauded Gills drive to offer this valuable service in the community.
Both Cordell and Gill were presented with certificates of appreciation and gift
cards.
There will be additional awards given out in the future.
