Obituary
Richard “Old Joe” Papesch, 82, of
Lincoln, passed away November 2, 2017 at St. Clara’s
Manor.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday,
November 11, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday also at the funeral home. Burial will
follow in New Union Cemetery.
Mr. Papesch was born May 1, 1935, in Lincoln the son
of Joe and Frieda (Annais). He married Nana Cecil on
August 2, 1958, in Lincoln. He proudly served his
country in the United States Navy. Richard was a
member of the First United Methodist Church. He was
a City of Lincoln Firefighter for 32 years, retiring
as Assistant Chief. He was the owner of Old Joes
since 1985.
Joe was a member of Masonic Lodge
210 where he served as past Worshipful Master,
member of the Oder of the White Shrine of Jerusalem
where he served as past Watchman of Shepherds and
past Supreme King. |
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge 2708, member of the American
Legion Post 263, and a member of the Oddfellows.
Survivors include his wife Nana Papesch, children: Steven Papesch, Jennifer
Papesch Ryan ( Brandt), Jeffrey Papesch, Holly Papesch Coady (Noel), and Jo
Helen Papesch Reason (Rodney); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln Fire
Department Safe House or Masonic Lodge 210.
