[November 11, 2017]  WAYNESVILLE - Earl L. Fields, 80 of Waynesville passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 8:18 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation:  9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Waynesville Christian Church

Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church

Funeral home:  Quiram Peasley Funeral Home, Atlanta

Obituary

Earl L. Fields, 80 of Waynesville passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 8:18 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Waynesville Christian Church with Mr. Dave Taylor officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by Waynesville American Legion Post #1189.

Earl Lewis Fields was born on October 23, 1937 in rural Dewitt County the son of Lewis and Mildred Preston Fields. He was united in marriage to Marlene Taylor on June 29, 1958. She survives.

He is survived by his daughter: Robin Talley & Grandson: Dalton Talley of Minier, Four sisters: Dortha Terrell of Waynesville, Nellie Nelson & Sara Campbell of Clinton, Verna Friedmansky of Lexington. 13 nieces and nephews. Special great Niece: Teresa (Eric) Hoff and great great nephews: Conner, Kelhan and Owen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

 

Funeral Director

Earl graduated from the Atlanta High School in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963 being stationed in Heidleberg, Germany.

He was employed at Stetson China Factory, Cutler-Hammer (Eaton), Koberlein Hog Production. Later owning and operating Fields Food Fair Grocery Store and co-licensed owner/operator of Fields Day Care.

He was an active member of the Waynesville Christian Church serving as chairman of the board and on the Buildings and Grounds committee.
Earl was an avid CUBS fan.

Earl was loved and will be greatly missed by my friends, loved ones including his fur baby-Piper. A special THANK YOU to the Waynesville Fire department and all the staff at St. Clara's Manor for the special loving care they gave to Earl this past year.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Waynesville Christian Church or Waynesville Fire Department.
