11/14/2017 NHL Note - Calgary Flames Lack, Eddie

G Eddie Lack made 13 saves after replacing Mike Smith for the final two periods of the Flames 7-4 win over the Blues Monday night. Smith was undergoing evaluation for an undisclosed injury. "Smitty pretty much told me right away that I was going in," said Lack, who picked up his first win for Calgary. "There wasn't much to think about. Just go out there and try to play my game."

NHL Note - Carolina Hurricanes Teravainen, Teuvo

LW Teravainen scored three times in the opening 9:44 of the third period as the Hurricanes extended their point streak to five straight games with a 5-1 victory over the Stars on Monday night. "He should attack the net more because he does have that ability and skill set to do that, and the skating ability," Carolina coach Bill Peters said. "He should be -- I don't want to say selfish -- but more of an attacking the net (player) with a shooter's mentality."

NHL Note - Carolina Hurricanes Aho, Sebastian

LW Sebastian Aho had a goal and two assists in the Hurricanes 5-1 win over the Stars on Monday night. Aho, who scored 24 goals as a rookie last season for Carolina, notched his first of the season 8:07 into the game after going 15 games without a goal.

C Jordan Staal assisted on all but one of the Hurricanes goals in a 5-1 win over the Stars. It was the first four-assist game of his Staal's 12-year career.

NHL Note - New York Islanders Kulemin, Nikolay

F Nikolay Kulemin will be sidelined at least six months after undergoing surgery to repair an undisclosed upper-body injury, the team announced Monday. That timeline puts Kulemin in jeopardy of missing the remainder of the regular season, which ends on April 7. Kulemin was injured following a hit from defenseman Eric Gryba during New York's 2-1 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 7.

RW Kris Versteeg scored the go-ahead goal with 5:31 left in the third period and the Flames defeated the St. Louis Blues 7-4 on Monday night. The 31-year-old veteran of 636 NHL games notched his third goal of the season.

G Mike Smith made his seventh straight start in net for the Flames and stopped seven of nine shots he faced in the first period against the Blues Monday night. But Smith, who was undergoing evaluation for an undisclosed injury, was replaced in between the pipes by Eddie Lack for the second and third periods of the 7-4 win.
