[November 14, 2017]  NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Goodwin, Marquise

WR Marquise Goodwin caught an 83-yard touchdown pass in Sunday's win over the New York Giants. It was Goodwin's first touchdown catch of the season, and the longest for a 49er since WR Brandon Lloyd hauled in an 83-yarder against the St. Louis Rams in 2014.

NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Breida, Matt

RB Matt Breida recorded the longest touchdown run by a 49er this season with a 33-yarder in Sunday's win over the New York Giants. The run was the longest of his career.

K Wil Lutz made both of his field goals, from 23 and 53 yards, but he was wide on an extra point a week after one of his extra points was blocked by Tampa Bay.

RB Daniel Lasco will miss the rest of the season because of a neck injury suffered covering a kickoff Sunday.

"He's got a bulging disk and it's a procedure they'll do that will put him out for the year, but won't be career-threatening," head coach Sean Payton said. "He flew home with us last night on the plane and the prognosis is good and we're fortunate that it wasn't more severe and I know his teammates and everyone, coaching staff, all of us felt relieved that he was able to come back on the plane with us and can have this surgery ASAP, probably within the week."

NFL Note - New Orleans Saints Thomas, *Michael

WR Michael Thomas had his first 100-yard receiving game of the season, finishing with 117 yards on nine receptions.

Thomas has consistently been Drew Brees' primary target, catching at least three passes in every game and averaging more than six receptions per game. But he had a season-high in catches Sunday in addition to surpassing his previous high in yards by 28.

RB Trey Edmunds made the roster as an undrafted rookie primarily because of his ability to play special teams.

He did not touch the ball on offense before Sunday, but got an opportunity in the fourth quarter. Edmunds ran 41 yards for a touchdown and finished with nine carries for 48 yards.

NFL Note - Pittsburgh Steelers Haden, Joe

CB Joe Haden has a fractured fibula in his left leg and has been ruled out for the Thursday night game against the Titans. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the Steelers will not immediately place on Haden on injured reserve because they want to give him an opportunity to play again during the regular season if he is able. Estimates for Haden's return are 4-6 weeks, but Tomlin reiterated Monday that it could be a shorter period or a longer period. They just have to wait to see how the bone heals.

S Mike Mitchell left the Colts game early in the third quarter with an ankle injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin did not rule Mitchell out for the Titans game. He said there is a chance, albeit a small one, that he can play.

TE Vance McDonald injured an ankle in Sunday's game and is in the same boat as Mike Mitchell. The team will wait to see how he progresses during the short week.

FS Adrian Colbert (broken thumb) was able to play through the injury Sunday to participate in all 66 defensive snaps in the win over the New York Giants. The 49ers announced Monday the injury will require surgery at some point. No decision has been made as to when that will be or whether Colbert might be able to keep playing.

S T.J. McDonald made his Dolphins debut on Monday night after coming off the NFL's suspended list. He had a would-be first-quarter interception overturned by video review.

QB Jay Cutler completed 22 of 37 passes for 213 yards for the Dolphins on Monday night against the Panthers. He threw for two touchdowns, including a 9-yard strike to Jarvis Landry with 4:05 to play. Cutler was coming off his career-best game in terms of completion percentage (81 percent on 34 of 42 vs. Oakland), but he had that many incompletions by late in the second quarter at 8 of 16. "We have to play better. That starts in the first half," Cutler said. "We have to keep from putting our defense in bad spots."

NFL Note - Cincinnati Bengals Burfict, Vontaze

LB Vontaze Burfict is being provoked by NFL officials, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter who cited one of Burfict's teammates as the source.

The unnamed Bengals player said he heard officials cursing at Burfict on multiple occasions. With 5:12 left in the first half of Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Burfict was ejected from the game by referee Jeff Triplette after Burfict made contact with a game official.

NFL Note - Cincinnati Bengals Ross, *John

WR John Ross has gotten few chances to showcase his skills in the NFL. He has squandered those few.

In a loss to the Houston Texans in Week 2, Ross fumbled after gaining 12 yards on an end-around, his first career touch. On Sunday, Ross pulled up on his route only to see Andy Dalton send a deep ball his way with nobody there. Ross has played sparingly since coming back from a knee injury two weeks ago and was a healthy inactive last week.

K Randy Bullock's missed extra point following the Bengals' first touchdown ultimately meant the Bengals needed a touchdown to win on their final drive rather than a field goal to tie.

WR Tyler Boyd appeared to be a healthy scratch on Sunday as rookie John Ross got the start. Boyd had returned to practice after suffering a knee injury five weeks ago.

Boyd was coming off a standout rookie season, but has only six catches for 43 yards and has been active for only three games.

CB Adam Jones left Sunday's game in the third quarter with a concussion.

He suffered the injury while tackling Tennessee QB Marcus Mariota. Jones, who missed time this season with a back ailment, had two tackles on Sunday and a 23-yard punt return.

RB Jeremy Hill was placed on injured reserve on Saturday and according to head coach Marvin Lewis, has opted for season-ending ankle surgery.

Lewis said he was surprised that Hill is opting for surgery since his understanding was that he would wait until after the season to have the procedure.

NFL Note - Cincinnati Bengals Dalton, Andy

QB Andy Dalton had an up and down afternoon. He missed some throws and had a strip-fumble.

But Dalton also passed for 265 yards and two touchdowns including a laser on a slant to A.J. Green that resulted in a 70-yard score that put the Bengals ahead in the fourth quarter. Dalton also had a 37-yard TD pass to Brandon LaFell.

NFL Note - Los Angeles Rams Goff, *Jared

QB Jared Goff posted a career-high 355 yards while completing 25 of 37 passes and no interceptions for a 125.4 passer rating. Goff, Kansas City's Alex Smith and New England's Tom Brady are the only three quarterbacks in the NFL this season with multiple games passing for at least 300 yards, three passing touchdowns and zero interceptions. Goff is the only quarterback in franchise history to pass for 300-plus yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in consecutive games.

NFL Note - Los Angeles Rams Woods, Robert

WR Robert Woods had a career day with eight receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Woods hauled in the third-longest reception in franchise history, a 94-yard touchdown from Jared Goff. Woods collected a second touchdown on a 17-yard reception. Woods is one of six wide receivers in the NFL this season to post 125-plus receiving yards and multiple touchdown receptions in a single game.

WR Sammy Watkins notched a 12-yard touchdown reception. Watkins has four touchdowns this season and has scored a touchdown in back-to-back games.

RB Todd Gurley rushed 11 times for 68 yards, a 6.2-yard average with a long of 34 yards. He added six receptions for 68 yards. In total, Gurley collected 17 touches for 102 yards from scrimmage. Gurley registered a 43-yard reception from Goff. That was the third 40-plus yard reception of Gurley's career. He joins Marshall Faulk, Steven Jackson and Amp Lee as the only running backs in franchise history with three or more receptions of 40-plus yards.

DT Aaron Donald sacked Texans QB Tom Savage and forced a fumble. OLB Matt Longacre recovered the ball and returned it 8 yards. Donald has recorded 5.5 sacks this season. Donald is the first Ram to force a fumble during the first drive of the game in back-to-back games.

LB Mark Barron intercepted Tom Savage in the red zone and returned it 15 yards. It was Barron's third interception of the season, which is a personal best. Barron has eight career interceptions, five as a member of the Rams.

NFL Note - Carolina Panthers Funchess, Devin

WR Devin Funchess caught two touchdown passes in the 45-21 win over the Dolphins on Monday night, the last a 32-yarder from Cam Newton with 8:20 remaining. The Panthers went up 24-7 on the first possession of the second half when Funchess scored on a 28-yard screen pass from Newton. "Everything was feeling good and everything was just fun," Funchess said.

NFL Note - Carolina Panthers McCaffrey, *Christian

RB Christian McCaffrey helped build the lead to 10-0 on Monday against against the Dolphins, scoring on a nifty move on a 4-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to cap a 12-play, 85-yard drive that consumed almost 6 1/2 minutes. He reached 425 receiving yards this season, a franchise record for a running back.

QB Cam Newton threw four touchdown passes in the Panthers' 45-21 victory over the Dolphins on Monday night. Newton was 21 of 35 for 254 yards. He also rushed for 95 yards on five carries, including a 69-yard burst in the third quarter.

WR Quincy Adeboyejo, an undrafted rookie, could return to the lineup over the final stretch of the season. Adeboyejo is recovering from a PCL injury he suffered in training camp.

QB Eli Manning started his 208th consecutive regular-season game, tying his brother, Peyton, for the second-longest consecutive starts streak by a quarterback in NFL history.

WR Sterling Shepard led the Giants' receivers with career-high totals of 11 catches for 142 yards.

His previous bests were eight receptions (for 117 yards) vs. New Orleans on Sept. 18, 2016, and 133 yards (on seven catches) at Philadelphia on Sept. 24. Shepard was also the first Giants' receiver with at least 11 catches in a game since Odell Beckham Jr. had 11 at Philadelphia on Dec. 22, 2016.

TE Evan Engram's nine-yard touchdown catch was his fifth touchdown reception of the season, tying Bob Tucker's franchise record for rookie tight ends, set in 1970.

Engram has a touchdown reception in each of the last four games, the longest streak by a Giants player since receiver Rueben Randle caught a touchdown pass in each of the final four games of the 2015 season.

LT Tyron Smith remains questionable to play against the Eagles Sunday after missing the Falcons game with a groin injury. Chaz Green started in his place and gave up four sacks.

Byron Bell replaced him in the fourth quarter and gave up one sack. Look for Bell to get the start at left tackle if Smith can't go. Green has lost confidence and the Cowboys have lost confidence in him.

NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Elliott, Ezekiel

RB Ezekiel Elliott plans to spend time out of the country to clear his head and train during his six-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy, per a source.

That confirmed an earlier report by the NFL Network. Elliott hopes to take a page out the Tom Brady playbook. The New England Patriots quarterback spent a week in Italy during his four-game suspension in 2016. Elliott, however, has yet to depart for his out of the country trip. He was spotted grocery shopping in Frisco before Sunday's game between the Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons.

LB Sean Lee is not expected to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles after aggravating a hamstring injury in the 27-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

And there is a good chance he is out the next three games, returning for the Dec. 10 matchup at the New York Giants, per sources. The Cowboys are taking it day-by-day.

G Kyle Long was active for Sunday's loss to Green Bay, but got in only one play as a result of the finger/hand injury he suffered Oct. 29 against New Orleans. He was replaced in the lineup by Cody Whitehair, with Hroniss Grasu moving into Whitehair's regular spot at center. His status for this week against Detroit is day-to-day. There remains some confusion over whether it's the finger or another injury keeping Long out of the lineup. During the previous week, head coach John Fox had referred to it as an arm injury. Long has had to deal with an old shoulder injury and an ankle that still needs to properly heal and be strengthened after surgery last year. "So he was active, so he was healthy enough, but I'm not sure he was going to be healthy enough to take 70 snaps in a game," Fox said, explaining Long's situation.
