Jazz Jam at Deep Roots Cafe
Jazz Performance is Warm Up for December Main Stage Performance

 

[November 15, 2017]  LINCOLN - Members of the Lincoln College Jazz Ensemble will perform Friday, Nov. 17, at the Deep Roots Café, 127 S. Kickapoo, in downtown Lincoln.

The performance will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. Autumn menu offerings include a sampling of Deep Root’s sandwiches and sweets.

“This will be the second time this fall that Deep Roots has opened their doors to our jazz performers. It’s a great opportunity for the students to gain experience performing before a live audience at a commercial venue,” said Denise LaGrassa, lead faculty member for the Jazz Studies program at Lincoln College.

She added, that the performance will also give the Lincoln community a preview of what they can expect when the full Jazz Ensemble takes to the main stage in December at the Johnston Center.

The full Jazz Ensemble will present “Next Stop: Harlem” on the main stage of the Johnston Center Dec. 7-8.
