City of Lincoln officials welcome Dunkin Donuts to the business community

On Friday morning, the city of Lincoln welcomed Dunkin Donuts to the community, participating in a ribbon cut with the new business owners.

Mayor Seth Goodman, and Aldermen Michelle Bauer and Rick Hoefle were on hand for the cut. Owner Nick Bhatt, wife Madvi, and business associate J.D. Patel gathered with city officials in front of the new donut and coffee shop on the city's far west end for the happy occasion.

Bhatt said the new store had been three years in the making. The land had been purchased three years ago; then the project was temporarily put on hold. Then this year, the decision was made to go ahead with the plan.

The popular coffee and donut chain is located on the east end of a four-plex building. Bhatt said that the other three suites would be available for rent in the future.

This is Bhatt's second Dunkin franchise, with the first being located in Springfield.

On Friday, it was a very chilly day, and the new establishment was doing a brisk business.

Along with the city representatives and the Bhatt's, Dan Benedict of the Logan County Veteran's Assistance Commission was on hand. In honor of Veteran's Day, the new restaurant donated $100 to the VAC. Benedict accepted the check graciously saying that funding from local businesses was greatly appreciated.

Before cutting the ribbon, Mayor Goodman welcomed the Bhatt's to Lincoln and noted that good coffee was a favorite beverage for him, and the Bhatt's can expect to see him regularly.

The location offers a dine-in area as well as a drive-thru for traveler convenience.
