Logan County Arts "Return to Nature" exhibit opens Thursday evening

For a change of pace, Logan County Arts members will “Return to Nature” for their October, 2017 art exhibit. An opening reception will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the Lincoln Art Institute, 112 S. McLean St, Lincoln.

Almost everyone turns to Nature from time to time as a source of inspiration, appreciation or sometimes of solace, and the theme has evoked a wide range of works from LCA artists. Photographer Randy Washam, of Soul Shine Gallery, has been taking nature pictures for years, but is continually refining his approach with new technology. His landscape uses aluminum rather than paper to capture the glow of the Western scenery. Photographer Bev Noble brings us close to Illinois songbirds and game birds with detailed close ups of their activities.

Acrylics from Pam Moriearty evoke early memories of idyllic summer vacations on the lake, while Jason Hoffman celebrates the natural beauty of wood by turning its grain patterns into a graceful symmetrical abstract.

Moses Pinkerton’s image of a wild rose admired from the road was painted to accompany an original poem. Nine other LCA members and guest artists will also have works in the show.

After opening night, the show will be available for viewing by chance or appointment until November 4. Visitors may ring the doorbell, and if curator Pinkerton is available he will open the gallery. For an appointment, people may call Pinkerton at 217-651-8355.

The following LCA exhibit for November, a Holiday Show and Sale, will include gift suggestions and a silent auction. More information on that exhibit will be available at the “Back to Nature” opening.
