Lincoln Police Chief issues report
on Sunday afternoon shooting

On
Sunday, October 1, 2017, at approximately 2:01 PM, Lincoln Police
Department was dispatched to 700blk of Walnut St, Lincoln, IL, for a
report of a shooting that just occurred with one person down.
Lincoln Police Officers responded to find a male subject with a
wound to the chest and arm consistent with a gun shot. Lincoln
Police secured the scene and Logan County Paramedics and Lincoln
Fire Department attended to the single victim who resided at an
apartment where the shooting took place. The victim was transported
to the local hospital and later flown to another hospital where he
is in stable condition.
According to witnesses there were two black male suspects with
firearms, one in a dark blue Ford Escape and the other in a white
Escalade with tinted windows and 20” chrome wheels. Suspects fled
south to 1st Street and then West on 1st Street.
Lincoln Police conducted search warrants at the victim’s residence
and therein found a large amount of currency and crack cocaine.
Lincoln Police subsequently arrested the occupants of the residence,
Alonzo Rose and Jessica Harrington, for manufacture/delivery of more
than 100grams of controlled substance. The victim and those involved
are prior residents of the Chicago area.

This investigation is open and in progress by the
Lincoln Police Department, so further comments will be limited. The
charges are merely allegations, and the defendants are presumed
innocent unless and until proven guilty. All reports will be
forwarded to the Logan County State’s Attorney for review.
