After falling earlier in the season to Mattoon, the Lincoln Railers
Volleyball Team bounced back at home Tuesday night on Senior Night
to defeat the Green Wave. It took three sets but the ladies got the
job done in exciting fashion.
Lincoln took the first set 25-20. Mattoon cruised in the second set
and the Railers dropped that set 10-25. The third set was
oh-so-sweet for the Railers as they edged out the Green Wave 26-24.
Lincoln’s Head Coach Kyle Caldwell was happy to see the ladies get
the win, right before regional seedings. "Tonight was a great win
for us on Senior Night to honor the six very special seniors that
have contributed so much to this program,” said Caldwell. "It was
also a nice rebound from a tough three-set loss to Mattoon from the
beginning of the year. It is the last match that will be entered
before regional seeding will be decided, so I am expecting a nice
seed going into post season. Our hard work so far will pay off and
the rest of the regular season will be focused on fine tuning what
we will be doing in the postseason. That is where we are hoping to
make a name for ourselves.”
The six seniors honored on Tuesday night were: Tearaney Eads, Kaelyn
Froebe, Morgan Lolling, Kennedy Lolling, Grace Bossingham and Amber
Oliver.
Lincoln’s record improves to 17-8 overall and 5-3 in the Apollo
Conference.
In the JV contest Lincoln lost to Mattoon 10-25 and 19-25.
In the Freshmen contest Lincoln won 25-23 and 25-11.
