10/03/2017 NHL Note - Detroit Red Wings Fulcher, Kaden
G Kaden Fulcher signed a three-year entry-level contract, the
Detroit Red Wings announced Tuesday. Fulcher posted a 19-17-3 mark
with two shutouts, a 3.21 goals-against average and .891 save
percentage in 43 games last season with Hamilton of the Ontario
Hockey League. The 19-year-old Ontario native has recorded a 2-1-1
mark with one shutout, a 1.92 GAA and .935 save percentage in four
games this season with the Bulldogs.

NHL Note - Pittsburgh Penguins Pouliot, Derrick
D Derrick Pouliot was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks from the
Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday in exchange for fellow defenseman
Andrey Pedan and a fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft. Pouliot did
not record a point in 11 games with Pittsburgh last season. The
23-year-old has scored two goals and set up 12 others in 67 career
contests since being selected by the Penguins with the eighth
overall pick of the 2012 draft.

NHL Note - Pittsburgh Penguins Pedan, Andrey
D Andrey Pedan and a fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft were
acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins from the Vancouver Canucks in
exchange for D Derrick Pouliot. Pedan is signed to a two-way
contract through the 2017-18 season, with an average annual value of
$750,000 at the NHL level. The 24-year-old Lithuanian collected five
goals, five assists and 100 penalty minutes in 52 games last season
with Utica of the American Hockey League.

NHL Note - Columbus Blue Jackets Anderson, Josh
F Josh Anderson signed a three-year contract with the Columbus Blue
Jackets, the team announced on Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal
were not disclosed by the Blue Jackets, but Aaron Portzline of the
Athletic reported that the contract is worth a total of $5.55
million. Portzline reported that Anderson is expected to join the
club on Thursday, but it will be coach John Totorella's decision as
to whether he plays in the team's opener on Friday night against the
visiting New York Islanders.

NHL Note - Calgary Flames Glass, Tanner
F Tanner Glass was signed to a one-year contract, the Calgary Flames
announced on Tuesday. Glass collected one goal, one assist and 17
penalty minutes in 11 games with New York Rangers last season. The
33-year-old Saskatchewan native scored six goals and set up nine
others in 57 contests with the Wolf Pack. Glass has recorded 24
goals, 45 assists and 639 penalty minutes in 511 career games with
Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Winnipeg Jets, Pittsburgh
Penguins and Rangers.

NHL Note - Calgary Flames Gazdic, Luke
F Luke Gazdic was assigned to Stockton of the American Hockey
League. Gazdic, 28, failed to notch a point in 11 games with New
Jersey last season and has eight points (five goals, three assists)
to go along with 206 penalty minutes in 147 career contests with the
Edmonton Oilers and Devils.

NHL Note - Washington Capitals Wilson, Tom
RW Tom Wilson was suspended four games without pay for boarding
Blues LW Sammy Blais during a preseason game Sunday. Wilson was
assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for boarding Blais at
17:39 of the second period. He will forgo $97,560.96 in salary in
accordance with the league's collective bargaining agreement.

NHL Note - Buffalo Sabres Eichel, Jack
C Jack Eichel signed an eight-year, $80 million extension Tuesday,
making the 20-year-old the highest-paid player in Sabres' history.
Eichel was the second overall pick in the 2015 draft after the
Oilers' Connor McDavid, who inked his own eight-year extension worth
$100 million this summer. In 61 games last season, Eichel had 24
goals and 33 assists. An ankle injury delayed his start to the
season last year. As a rookie, he had 24 goals and 32 assists in 81
games as a teenager in 2015-16.

NHL Note - Toronto Maple Leafs Lupul, Joffrey
F Joffrey Lupul failed an independent medical examination and will
be placed on long-term-injured-reserve. Questions about salary-cap
circumvention arose when Lupul posted a photo on Instagram of
himself snowboarding with the comments, "Haha failed physical? They
cheat, everyone lets them," and "I'm ready. Just awaiting the call."
Lupul is under contract through the end of this season but hasn't
played since the 2015-16 campaign because of numerous injuries. The
33-year-old has 205 goals, 215 assists and 407 penalty minutes in
701 career games with the Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers,
Philadelphia Flyers and Maple Leafs. Toronto erases Lupul's $5.3
million cap hit.

NHL Note - Chicago Blackhawks Hossa, Marian
RW Marian Hossa failed an independent medical examination and will
be placed on long-term-injured-reserve. Eyebrows were raised because
Hossa's 12-year contract, which was heavily front-loaded before the
NHL put a stop to the practice in the last CBA, dips to $1 million
per season over the next four years. Hossa said he would not play
this season and potentially beyond because of a skin condition.
Hossa, 38, has scored 525 goals and 609 assists in 1,309 career NHL
games with the Blackhawks, Ottawa Senators, Atlanta Thrashers,
Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. He ranks 34th on the NHL
all-time goal-scoring list, 80th on the assists list and 54th on the
points list, and 60th in games played. Hossa won the Stanley Cup
three times with the Blackhawks in 2010, 2013 and 2015, and has 149
points (52 goals, 97 assists) in 205 career Stanley Cup playoff
games. The Blackhawks erase Hossa's $5.275 million cap hit.
