A nice crowd braved the soggy weather Tuesday evening for the
Lincoln Railers Soccer Senior Night festivities. The team also
hosted a “Kick Cancer Night” with the proceeds benefiting
fiver-year-old cancer patient Alexa of Atlanta.
On the soccer field the Railers tore through the Taylorville
Tornadoes by a score of 8-1. According to Coach Tim Stuckey, “The
seniors scored early and often tonight, highlighted by Romeo
Morales’ first goals in his career. Normally a defender, Romeo
enjoyed the start as forward for senior night.”
The Railers scoring was kicked off by senior Aleck Bailey’s goal
with 29:29 showing on game clock. Morales followed quickly with
back-to-back goals at the 28:42 and 27:34 marks. With an early 3-0
lead, the route was on. Bailey would go on to score two more goals
in the game, giving him yet another new record on the season. This
time he broke his last season record for 26 goals scored in a
season. Bailey currently sits at 27 goals (and counting) now. Senior
Cole Klockenga scored two goals in Tuesday night’s game and freshman
A.J. Beard scored one goal. The game actually ended at halftime due
to storms moving in.

Lincoln’s record is now 14-7-3 overall and 6-5 in the Apollo
Conference.
The seniors on this year’s team are Ryan Boyd, Jordan Jacobs, Tate
Sloan, Cole Klockenga, Aleck Bailey, Lance Podbelsek and Romeo
Morales.
Lincoln’s last regular season game is Thursday at Effingham. A
victory here would secure third place in the Apollo Conference,
according to Coach Stuckey. The game will kickoff with the varsity
match at 3:30 p.m.
