The Lincoln College Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving team began
their 2017-2018 season by hosting Lindenwood-Belleville University
(NAIA) for a meet over the weekend. Both teams lost to LBU in
overall scoring, but Lynx swimmers were able to win several events
and competed very well throughout. The Men’s team fell 127 to 93 and
the Women’s squad lost 128 to 83.
Lindenwood was able to sweep all of the relay events, but the Lynx
found success in several individual races. LC swimmers Colleen
Furgeson (Fr., Marshal Islands) and Kalen Eyre (Fr., Fiji) took
first place in the men’s and women’s 50 yard Freestyle events.
Freshman Macoy Neinas (Wisconsin) won the 200 IM with a time of
1:58.87 and Maddy Christenson, a sophomore from Michigan, was
champion of the women’s 1M diving competition. Lincoln’s Logan
Santiago (Fr. Michigan) took first in both the men’s 1M and 3M
diving events.
Other event winners for LC included Carla Motta (100 Free), Nichole
Cure (3M Diving), Miranda Kindhart (100 Breaststroke) and Oakley
Johns (100 Breaststroke)

Lincol Head Coach Jonathan Jordan was pleased with his team’s
effort. “Lindenwood is a great team with a lot of talented
swimmers,” Jordan said. “The fact that we were able to win 9 events
is a testament to the hard work and dedication that the Lynx
Swimmers and Divers have. The team will continue to work hard and
hope to be able to take home the win when we see them again in
December.”
Lincoln will be in action next on October 21st at the Monmouth
College Invite.
