NFL Note - Kansas City Chiefs
Kelce, Travis
TE Travis Kelce remains in the league's concussion protocol
following a helmet-to-helmet he received during Sunday's game
against Houston. Kelce briefly returned to the game after being
cleared by the league's unaffiliated neurological consultant but
experienced memory issues during halftime and left the game for
good. Head coach Andy Reid said he feels good but remains unsure of
his availability against Pittsburgh. Kelce did attend Wednesday's
practice while watching from the sidelines.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Cleveland Browns Hogan, Kevin
QB Kevin Hogan will be the Browns starter against the Texans on
Sunday, coach Hue Jackson announced Wednesday. Hogan, 24, will make
the first start of his career over rookie DeShone Kizer, who was
benched after halftime in last Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Jets.
Hogan was 16-of-19 passing for 194 yards against the Jets and led
the Browns on two touchdown drives. For the season, he is 26 of 38
for 377 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, and a
passer rating of 104.8.

NFL Note - Buffalo Bills Clay, Charles
TE Charles Clay underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Monday and will
miss "multiple weeks" according to head coach Sean McDermott.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Buffalo Bills Gaines, E.J.
CB E.J. Gaines missed Sunday's game with a groin injury, and he will
be week-to-week, though it remains possible he could return when the
Bills play again Oct. 22.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Buffalo Bills Johnson, Leonard
CB Leonard Johnson suffered a hamstring injury in Cincinnati, but it
appears he should be ready to play after the bye.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - * Free Agents Houston, Bart
LB Justin Houston did not practice Wednesday after leaving Sunday's
game with calf spasms. Reid said Houston was doing well, suggesting
he may practice later this week.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Kansas City Chiefs Morse, Mitch
C Mitch Morse missed his third straight game Sunday with a sprained
foot and did not practice Wednesday. Backup C Zach Fulton expects to
continue starting in his place until Morse is healthy.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Green Bay Packers McCray, Justin
OL Justin McCray had never played an NFL snap when the 2017 season
began. Amazingly, McCray has made three starts this season - two at
right tackle and last week at left guard. "(He's) fought his ass off
and (he's) played pretty well," Packers' offensive line coach James
Campen said.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Chicago Bears Trevathan, Danny
ILB Danny Trevathan returns this week and said he and Packers
receiver Davante Adams are on good terms after Adams was put in the
hospital with a hit that earned Trevathan a suspension.
"He was real cool," Trevathan said. "He plays football, he plays it
hard and he plays it good. We were good."
The Bears could also get Nick Kwiatkoski back to play alongside
Trevathan. He practiced Wednesday on a limited basis for the first
time since suffering a pectoral injury in Week 2. Kwiatkoski was
replacing Jerrell Freeman, who is out for the year with a pectoral
muscle injury.
"Having Nick back would help," Trevathan said.
Christian Jones called signals last week after a knee and ankle
injury took John Timu out of the game.
"He's a guy who loves the game and gives it his all," Trevathan said
of Jones. "You see it every time he's out there."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Arizona Cardinals Watford, Earl
LG Earl Watford graded out fairly well against the Eagles for a
player signed off the street the same week he made his first start
of the season. Watford, who spent his first four NFL seasons with
the Cardinals before leaving as a free agent this past offseason,
got the start because of injuries to Mike Iupati and Alex Boone.
"Earl didn't play that bad," head coach Bruce Arians said. "He had
the one pressure, or one sack, but for just coming off the street,
he didn't play that bad."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Nwachukwu, Noble
DT Noble Nwachukwu was released from the practice squad by the 49ers
on Wednesday in order to create room for the addition of DT Jeremy
Liggins. Nwachukwu went to training camp with the 49ers this summer
after having been undrafted in April.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Foster, Reuben
OLB Reuben Foster (sprained ankle) returned to practice on a limited
basis Wednesday. Foster had not played or practiced since suffering
the injury in the season opener against Carolina. While noting that
the 49ers would be cautious with Foster's return, head coach Kyle
Shanahan indicated Wednesday the door at this point is open for the
rookie to play Sunday at Washington.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Witherspoon, Ahkello
CB Ahkello Witherspoon (concussion) is in the NFL's concussion
protocol. He suffered the injury last Sunday at Indianapolis. He is
questionable for this week's game at Washington. ... CB Asa Jackson
(strained hamstring) was placed on the season-ending injured reserve
list on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was injured in the Week 5 loss at
Indianapolis. Jackson played in four games for the 49ers this
season, recording three tackles.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Buffalo Bills Glenn, Cordy
LT Cordy Glenn has missed four games with foot and ankle injuries,
and while he will probably be ready to play when the Bills return to
action, it isn't a certainty that he'll be on the left side.
Head coach Sean McDermott hinted that he's still evaluating what the
starting five will be, and how it will look.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Buffalo Bills Hyde, Micah
SS Micah Hyde, the Bills' big-ticket free-agent acquisition, leads
the NFL with four interceptions and he also has nine passes
defensed.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Buffalo Bills Taylor, Tyrod
QB Tyrod Taylor has absorbed 18 sacks, tied for second-most in the
NFL. His yards per attempt average of 6.7 yards is tied for 29th in
the league.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Buffalo Bills Matthews, Jordan
WR Jordan Matthews tops the Bills' wideouts with 10 catches, but
that figure ranks him tied for 131st among all players who have
caught passes including tight ends and running backs.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Reid, Eric
SS Eric Reid (strained knee ligament) was limited in his return to
practice Wednesday. The veteran suffered the injury in Week 3
against the Los Angeles Rams. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan
indicated Monday that Reid would be evaluated over the course of the
week to determine if he were healthy enough to play Sunday at
Washington.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Tennessee Titans Cyprien, Johnathan
S Johnathan Cyprien is out again this week, having injured his
hamstring in the opener and not played since. He is likely out until
after the Titans' bye week, which comes Oct. 29.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Tennessee Titans Searcy, Da'Norris
S Da'Norris Searcy will continue to start while Johnathan Cyprien is
out of the lineup. He was a starter last year and now has started
four of the five games this season.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Tennessee Titans Supernaw, Phillip
TE Phillip Supernaw had the first touchdown catch of his career in
Sunday's loss in Miami. Amazingly, it came after Supernaw
false-started twice in a row, moving the football from the 1 back to
the 11.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Buffalo Bills McCoy, LeSean
RB LeSean McCoy is averaging 55.8 yards per game, far below last
year's average of 84.6 yards and less than his career average of
75.7 yards.

K Stephen Hauschka has connected on 11 of his 12 field-goal attempts
and all eight of his extra points.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Cincinnati Bengals Hopkins, Trey
RG Trey Hopkins split reps with T.J. Johnson on Sunday. Hopkins
missed three weeks with a knee injury. "To get (him) back to playing
football," said head coach Marvin Lewis.
"That was a little bit of a concern, and we want to make sure we
have the right guys playing."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Cincinnati Bengals Boyd, *Tyler
WR Tyler Boyd left Sunday's game in the first quarter with a knee
injury. Head coach Marvin Lewis wouldn't confirm reports that Boyd
could be out for a few weeks.
"Again, we can't know how long healing will take," Lewis said. "He
has a sore knee (laughs)." Boyd has Boyd has only six receptions for
43 yards, coming off a strong rookie campaign.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Los Angeles Rams Joyner, Lamarcus
S Lamarcus Joyner was limited in practice Wednesday with a hamstring
injury.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Los Angeles Rams Whitworth, Andrew

absence.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Los Angeles Rams Barron, Mark
LB Mark Barron did not practice Wednesday with a knee injury.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Los Angeles Rams Johnson, John
S John Johnson, a rookie, played well enough in his first career
start on Sunday that it looks like he'll remain the starter along
with Lamarcus Joyner. That also means former starter Maurice
Alexander is out of a job as the club released him on Monday. Rams
head coach Sean McVay said Johnson and Joyner will be
interchangeable in their roles.
"The way that our coaches do it is they train those guys to play
both free (safety) and underneath and we've got some different calls
and things like that, that dictate whatever it is, whether it's a
two-safety or single-safety defense - who is an underneath defender,
who is a middle safety," McVay said. "And John did a nice job
specifically as a post player yesterday. But, you look at the
interception he made, he's an underneath flat player. So, I think
with those safeties, they're interchangeable in terms of being able
to play deep and then underneath in some of those run support
structures."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Los Angeles Rams Watkins, Sammy
WR Sammy Watkins has just one catch the last two weeks and was
targeted just four times last week against Seattle, which set off a
bit of a firestorm as Watkins went to Twitter to voice some cryptic
concerns.

practiced Wednesday.
-----------------------------------------------

Sunday's game after taking a knee to the helmet. There is no
timetable on the return of the backup safety, who contributes
primarily on special teams.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Kansas City Chiefs Logan, Bennie
DT Bennie Logan was limited in practice Wednesday. The team
continues providing additional rest for Logan, who has battled knee
inflammation since training camp. He is not expected to miss any
game time.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Houston Texans McKinney, Benardrick
ILB Benardrick McKinney (hip) missed practice, but will start
Sunday.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Houston Texans Jackson, Kareem
CB Kareem Jackson (hamstring) missed practice, but will start
Sunday.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Cincinnati Bengals Ross, *John
WR John Ross remains on hold, unless you count his one touch on a
12-yard end-around that resulted in a fumble.
The Bengals' first-round draft choice was a late arrival to training
camp practices due to a shoulder injury suffered in college. A knee
injury has kept him out of action for four of five weeks. He has
been on the field for only five snaps.
-----------------------------------------------
[to top of second column] |
NFL Note - Cleveland Browns Thomas, Joe
LT Joe Thomas (knee) did not practice Wednesday, his normal day to

OLB-DE Jadeveon Clowney (knee) missed practice, but will start
Sunday.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Arizona Cardinals Price, Givens
G/T Givens Price was re-signed to the team's practice squad on
Wednesday. He replaces rookie guard Dorian Johnson, who was signed
to the active roster of the Houston Texans. Johnson was a
fourth-round pick out of Pittsburgh and initially was seen as the
team's future starting right guard. He never was able to push for
the role, however, and was outplayed in training camp and the
preseason by second-year pro Evan Boehm. "He struggled in pass
protection and we saw progress, but not the speed that we would have
liked to add him on the active roster," head coach Bruce Arians said
of Johnson.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Arizona Cardinals Humphries, D.J.
LT D.J. Humphries (knee) is expected to practice when the team gets
after it in full pads on Thursday and if all goes well the rest of
the week, and he could return to the starting lineup Sunday against
visiting Tampa Bay.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Arizona Cardinals Boone, Alex
LG Alex Boone (pectoral strain) is expected to practice when the
team gets after it in full pads on Thursday and if all goes well the
rest of the week, he could return to the starting lineup Sunday
against visiting Tampa Bay.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Los Angeles Chargers Gordon, Melvin
RB Melvin Gordon is coming off his first 100-yard rushing game of
the year. He also added two scoring receptions as he hopes to build
on his best game of the season. "You could tell he was getting into
a rhythm," quarterback Philip Rivers said. "It's still early as far
as where it all ends up."
-----------------------------------------------

RT Joe Barksdale (foot) was limited.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Los Angeles Chargers Boston, Tre
FS Tre Boston prevailed over Dwight Lowery, a starter last year, in
one of the most spirited camp battles. He's slowly having more of an
impact and he proved it in the win over the Giants when his first
interception with the Chargers sealed the team's first win. Boston
has started all five games and is the only Charger to have played
all 339 defensive snaps. Along with his pick, he has 25 tackles (21
solo) and two passes defensed.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Juszczyk, Kyle
FB Kyle Juszczyk (sore back) was held out of practice Wednesday. The
fullback suffered a concussion and neck injury in the Week 4 loss at
Arizona, but was able to clear the NFL's concussion protocol in
order to play last week at Indianapolis. It is unclear if the back
issue is related to the previous neck problem.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - San Francisco 49ers Liggins, Jeremy
DT Jeremy Liggins was signed to the 49ers' practice squad on
Wednesday. The undrafted rookie went to training camp with the
Seattle Seahawks, but was cut on the eve of the regular season.
Liggins was an offensive player (mostly tight end and lineman) while
at the University of Mississippi.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Cleveland Browns Burgess, James
LB James Burgess (knee) did not practice. He was injured playing the
Jets last week.
-----------------------------------------------

first time since he suffered a quad injury in a Week 2 win over the
New York Giants. Zach Zenner has nine carries for just 16 yards
while playing the big-back role in Washington's absence.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Detroit Lions Worrilow, Paul

the end of the 2015 season and the start of 2016.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Seattle Seahawks Jordan, Dion

indicated what their plans are for Jordan, who had two knee
surgeries in April.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Seattle Seahawks McDowell, *Malik
DT Malik McDowell is on the reserve/non-football injury, and head
coach Pete Carrol said he believes there is a chance McDowell might
play this season. McDowell suffered serious injuries in an ATV
accident before the start of training camp.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Detroit Lions Golladay, Kenny
WR Kenny Golladay returned to practice Wednesday after missing two
games with a hamstring injury, and could provide a boost to the
Lions' struggling offense this weekend against the Saints.
Golladay caught two touchdown passes in his NFL debut last month and
at 6-foot-4 is maybe the best deep threat in the Lions' receiving
corps.
"I think even without Kenny out there we still have opportunity to
have some explosive plays," head coach Jim Caldwell said. "I mean,
you watch Golden there at the end, he makes guys miss, gets up the
field. Marvin had what, five catches or so (against the Panthers).
... So we have enough out there, even without Kenny. We just haven't
been effective enough, that's the key."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Detroit Lions Fells, Darren
TE Darren Fells started getting respect as the Lions' No. 1 tight
end. The Lions have opened all five games this year in two-tight-end
sets, but Fells has played more snaps than Eric Ebron (and been more
effective) the last two weeks. He has just eight catches for 75
yards on the season, but Fells caught two touchdowns in last week's
loss to the Carolina Panthers and he's an invaluable part of the
offense as a pass and run blocker.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys March-Lillard, Justin
LB Justin March-Lillard signed with the Cowboys Wednesday.
March-Lillard, an undrafted free agent out of Akron, spent the
2015-16 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and was among their
final cuts. After the Chiefs released March-Lillard on Sept. 2, the
Miami Dolphins claimed him on waivers. The Dolphins then released
him on Sept. 26 and the Seattle Seahawks claimed him on Sept. 27.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Wilson, Damien
LB Damien Wilson was cleared Wednesday of all charges by a grand
jury arising from a Fourth of July incident. Wilson, 24, was charged
with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming
from a parking lot dispute over the summer holiday weekend.
According to a police report from the incident, Wilson
"intentionally" backed into a woman while trying to find a parking
spot at Toyota Stadium, and then brandished a rifle at a man. But
Wilson won't go to trial over the matter. He posted on social media
that Wednesday was "a beautiful day."
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Dallas Cowboys Lee, Sean

hamstring, was at practice Wednesday and should be back on the field
when the Cowboys return after the bye against the 49ers.

his way to the Pro Bowl, has only one sack in five games.
-----------------------------------------------

of a left knee injury, was held out of Wednesday's practice by head
coach Mike Mularkey. He remains day-to-day.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Tennessee Titans Kern, Brett
P Brett Kern had a fabulous day Sunday in Miami, something that
happens often when an offense struggles.
Kern became the first punter in NFL history to have 10 punts in a
game and average better than 50 yards a kick. His average for Sunday
was 54.9 yards and his season average is 51.8 with nine of his 28
punts downed inside the 20.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Tennessee Titans Mariota, Marcus
QB Marcus Mariota did a little bit more work Wednesday as he tries
to make his way back from a left hamstring injury that kept him out
of Sunday's game in Miami.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - Tennessee Titans Davis, Corey
WR Corey Davis remains out of the lineup with a hamstring injury and
has already been ruled out for Monday night. He might have a chance
to return next week.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New York Giants Shepard, Sterling
WR Sterling Shepard (ankle) is currently in a walking boot and is
unable to practice. The Giants have listed Shepard as day-to-day,
but it's unlikely that he will play Sunday night against the
Broncos.
-----------------------------------------------
NFL Note - New York Giants Apple, *Eli
CB Eli Apple, benched for three defensive series last week,

had to change.
He told reporters Tuesday that he was uncertain as to whether he
would be back in the starting lineup Sunday.

Wednesday and didn't practice. Collins told reporters that he
believes he'll be good to go on Sunday.
