(Reuters) - West Ham United
back-up goalkeeper Adrian believes he has not been given a chance to
prove himself this season but is determined to fight for a place in
the starting line-up.
Adrian was second choice to Darren Randolph last season, featuring
in 19 of West Ham's 46 games, and the 30-year-old has been relegated
to a reserve role again this campaign following the arrival of
England international Joe Hart on loan.
The Spaniard has started in just two League Cup matches this season
and believes his solid performances in the last campaign warranted
more playing time.
"I just have to keep on fighting, showing the manager that Adrian is
still a good keeper," the Spaniard told British media.
"And well, if I don't get enough chances, (I will) try to find the
best solution for both sides. Like any player, I'm happy on the
pitch, playing matches. And at the age I'm at, I think I have to
play.
"I have not received the chances I feel I've earned with my
performances, but sometimes football is that way and I'll have to
keep on fighting."

The former Real Betis keeper fears that a lack of club football
could also mean missing out on a place in Spain's squad for the 2018
World Cup in Russia, adding he would be open for a transfer if the
situation did not improve.
"The possibility to play for the national team when you are not
playing also disappears," added Adrian, who has been called up for
Spain but is yet to play.
"If the situation remains as is, there's a transfer window in
December, and after that one, there's one in the summer. I'll just
have one year left on my contract and we'd have to reach an
agreement because it's clear that I'm not happy."

and Hove Albion on Friday. (Reporting by Aditi Prakash in Bengaluru)
